Question
if i hit my 3 iron 185-190 yards, how far would i hit a 3 hybrid?
Answered by Mike
probably 200. but you could hit them less like i do. i prefer long irons over hibrids all day long. its just different for every1
Answered by Rico
Your distance is beast with a 3 iron!!!

If you are hitting a 3 hybrid with 20 to 21 degrees loft you would probably put it out there 210 to 220 with draw spin. The Titleist 909 H with VooDoo shaft is the best IMO.

Good luck.

Answered by Will
yeah if you are a high handicap then he hits it far. But depends what type of shaft you put in it. I use the Exotic metal woods with a good shaft can’t think of it now. Shaft make a difference i hit mine 220-230. Highly recommend Taylor made rescue to if your a o.k. golfer Taylor Made is really good.

200 to 220 yards but you can sometimes get more out of a hybrid then a 3 iron
Answered by Matt
I hit my three about like you and with my burner hybrid I hit it 190-215 so it may be differnt fot you but I like it better. The best part of it is the fact that they seem to keep the ball on the fairway better. puls I’m getting to the green in two shots even on some par fives so it’s a big help.
Question
Answered by Dick
Forgiveness. Hybrids have a larger “sweet spot” and therefore are more forgiving if you are more toward the toe or heel.
That does not make them necessarily easy to hit though. If you are better with your irons than your woods, you might find hitting a hybrid more difficult than just your regular 3 iron. Everybody plays the same game differently…

it makes golfing easier
Answered by dvz
Is easier to hit, fly higher therefore lands softly with less roll. Great for going into the green on long shots (like Yang’s shot on the 18th). Is also easier to get out of the rough vs using an iron.

OK, OK, OK. Forget everything that everyone else said. Although it is true that a 3 hybrid is a lot easier to hit then 3 iron (in my opinion), we can learn something much more important than this. Y. E. Yang beat Tiger Woods a week ago by hitting, with a hybrid, a ball that hit the green and stopped, right by the hole. The two things we can learn from this are,

one: hybrids give much more backspin than high-number irons
two: hybrids are GREAT from the rough

I hope this comment helps, and that you chose your hybrid over your iron!

Question
I thought they were used for hitting out of thick rough is that right?
Answered by googie
If you bought a hybrid club and didn’t know its use, why would you ever buy it ? Hybrids are for those players who have no idea on how to hit long irons from the rough, fairway woods from the fairways and long shots from fairway bunkers.
Answered by Dooley Duffer
Hybrids were developed to replace long irons. Most high handicapped players have trouble with the long irons. Hybrids are easier to hit.

Hybrids have a fairway metal type head with the shaft length of an iron. Hence the term hybrid.

You would use them to as you would a long iron, plus for trouble shots like a fairway bunker or the rough as you suggested. The can be used around the greens for those rare off the green putting opportunities for example.

Use your imagination and you’ll think of many opportunities to use your new hybrid

Answered by avgrphx17
They essentially replace your 3, 4 and 5 irons adding a bit more “meat” making them a tad easier to get up quicker and go further with mishits.

Question
What are pros and cons? I was looking for something to hit off the fairway a little more consistently.
Answered by DeepDiver
Pros – More forgiving and easier to hit compared too your long irons, equals better scores

Cons – Usually will cost you $ 150 each unless you buy an older model or get one on sale, wife will hate you for this (if you have one)

Answered by clydesdale44

  1. Jake says:

    Around 200 yards.

  2. Paul says:

    Pretty much the same.

Depending on the manufacturer, a 3-hybrid will come in with between 20-22 degrees of loft, pretty comparable to a 3-iron, typically 21 degrees loft.

Build lengths are pretty much the same, around 39″ for both clubs in standard lengths.

Flight will be different though. Hybrids have more weight low and to the rear, making for higher launch angles than typical irons in the same lofts.

Flight with a hybrid will be higher and land softer, which is one of the benefits of hybrids.

    Hope this helps
