FYbrid; it’s “fairway” and “hybrid” combined. This clever line of fairway utilities fuses fairway woods and hybrids into a single family that let’s golfers build distance gapping into their game. FYbrids offer simplified club selection and improved confidence from long range. A dual rail sole promotes cleaner turf interaction by lowering the leading edge. This enables cleaner ball contact from a variety of lies. The rails also move the CG 7% lower and 11% deeper in the head for higher launch and stronger ball flight.

One you can hit realiably.

I use a 20 degree and a 16 degree Cobra Baffler, steel, regular flex hybrid that would do the job. I got rid of my 3 & 4 irons and repaced them with these awesome clubs. I do miss my 3 iron sometimes but I never used my 4. These clubs are so good when I cant get my driver straight off the tee I use them. Hit em straight!

hybrids are made to replace your long irons. the distance your looking for comes from 3 and 5 woods.

I play with a 19 degree Cleveland Halo hybrid. Very easy to hit…I’d guess that you’d be able to hit it at least 220. It’s been out since 2005 (i think), so you might be able to get it for less than $ 50 on ebay.
Question
I’m just starting out playing golf and current have a set that includes a driver and 3-pw. I would like to add either a 3 wood or a 15/19 degree hybrid first and build on the set later.
Answered by kolean23
If you just started playing, here is what I would suggest. Get as many woods and hybrids as you can. Also, a 3 wood is usually 15 degrees, so no sense in getting a 15 degree hybrid. There are sets of clubs that have hybrids up to a 6 iron. While you may not need to get that many, keep in mind that long irons (3-5) are harder to hit than short irons. Especially for beginners. A wood is easier to hit than an iron. And a hybrid is also easier to hit than an iron.

For a beginner, I would suggest getting a set that has a driver, 3 wood and 5 wood. 3 and 4 iron hybrids. and 5-pw irons. Adams has sets that you can custom to your needs. Also, keep in mind that a 3 iron hybrid usually goes farther than a 3 iron.

I use a Nike 18 degree Slingshot and I’d bite your hand if you tried to take it from my bag. I hit is straight, long (for me) and love the way the ball jumps off the clubface. It’s like a 2 or 3 iron. I also play with a 22 degree and that fills the 4 hard 5 iron void (though I still carry my 5 iron).

My buddy, Mike, hits a fairway wood and I still carry a 3 wood with me but I might start leaving it at home.

My advice is to try one if you can. They really are great and seem more forgiving than a traditional 3 wood.

Assuming you can hit your driver well, get a 20* hybrid first – it can be used for many more shots. If you are having trouble driving, then perhaps a 3-wood.

I just started playing also. Only once so far have I been on a par 5 where I had a hybrid to use instead of a fairway wood. It was a 22 degree 4. I tried a 3 wood and just didn’t feel comfortable with it at all. I pulled out the 4H and knocked the snot out of a beautiful straight shot. (it was me and a buddy giving me tips, so I hit from the same spot twice)

My personal thought is that this year I’ll carry a driver, 3H, 4H and 5-pw.

Answered by Rip
get a 3 wood and a 23 degree hybrid.
Question
I’m considering buying a new set of golf clubs that has a 3H, 4H, and 5-PW. If I buy this, would I need to also buy a Fairway Wood?
Answered by stinkinggenius2003
You wouldn’t have to but you will have a pretty big distance gap between your driver and your 3 hybrid

I would recommend a 4 wood

Answered by mrnoright
A hybrid are meant to replace long irons such as iron 3 and 4.

You need something to shoot for Long Par 5. Something in the 200 yards range.

I’m using a 5 Wood to shoot long par 5 because it’s easier off the deck than a 3 Wood.

Answered by Jason G
Yes because a 3 hybrid isn’t the same loft as a 3 or 5 wood. A 3 wood is in the 13-15 degree range and a 5 wood is in the 17-19 degree range.
Answered by Ethan
You wouldn’t NEED one, but I would get one if you want to maximize your game. A 3-wood would still be good to have.
Answered by Dave
I would have a fairway wood in oyur bag as well as the 3H. I have a 3H and a 3 wood in my bag

Good? ultimately it is the one you hit the best….go thee to a golf store with a launch monitor and proceed thee to hit them all. From what you are saying you will be looking at a 5 wd or its hybrid equivalency. Good luck!

Taylormade Rescue Dual I heard is pretty good.

  3. johnmiriani@sbcglobal.net says:

three or five wood are made to go that far, hybrid are made to take the place of your long irons.

  4. nick h says:

Personally, Callaway or Taylormade woods/hybrids are the best
to get, since they are made to be forgiving, so if you dont hit it good, your bad shots wont be too bad.

  5. AntDU says:

Personally, I will take my 3 I-Wood (Adam’s) off the tee now and then with good success. The 2 courses I play most often, open with a hole that a driver is not needed; 1 because of a Dog leg that can be cut off (with a narrow fairway) if I can get the ball over the trees and 1 is narrow and short with water to the right. I am so confident in my hybrid that I allow myself to score well and take the extra risk.

Basically, the choice is what you feel most confident in. A fairway wood will go further but if you do not feel you are going to hit it well, the club is useless. Fairway woods & hybrids are meant to be a hit a long ways. If you are attmpting to clear water or need to recover from a poor drive, you need to be comfortable and confident.

  6. Jason Spruce says:

In some cases, there is no need.
Generally the hybrid can replace the wood but you need to pay attention to the loft.
