What type of jewelry is best for a belly button piercing?

Question
I have had my belly button pierced for 2 years and all of a sudden it’s getting itchy and uncomfortable and I think it may have something to do with the jewelry. I honestly don’t know what it is, can’t be great though cuz it was less than $ 20. It’s beginning to get a little dark (the piercing). If I change the jewelry will that help the darkness go away?
Answered by Kate
Try andonized titanium. They are the least allergenic metal. I’ve had a titanium barbell in my rook for 4 or 5 years now without a problem but the steel ones start to break down much faster. (I’m allergic to nickel in the steel)
Answered by The Final Riot
yeah, it sounds like the jewelry you got wasn’t very high grade, you need to be buying jewelry thats made from surgical steel.
Answered by Shelly W
You need to remove your current piercing and retire it:) Let your belly button heal and clean it. Upgrade to a surgical steel belly button ring or 14k gold (Not Plated).

Good Luck!

Answered by kathynoda
Take the jewelry out and wash the belly button very good with alcohol and q-tips. Use Surgical steel, or Gold for your piercing. Any silver, copper, or the other metals will turn a little and possibly irritate the piercing.
Question
I am planning to purchase silver jewelry online and send it directly to my girlfriend. Does anyone know how the jewelry is packaged? Is it in a nice pouch? Box? Just wrapped in a bubble wrap? I would appreciate any specific answer I can get. Thanks!

Depends on the seller through Amazon.
It’s usually true UPS, so it’s in a plastic envelope. Sometimes they’ll send it in a cardboard box. You can ask for it to be gift wrapped though.

From other companies, it depends if it’s a high end jewlery company (like Tiffany & Co.) or a low quality one.

You’d be better off receiving the package, and wrapping it yourself to make sure it looks perfect for her. =]If that’s not an option, just speak to the seller or e-mail the company before they ship it off.

Hello Sung C. We have sold jewelry online for a few years now at http://www.abramsjewelry.com and http://stores.ebay.com/abrams-jewelry and have worked with other sellers including those on Amazon.com. We can tell you from experience that most sellers offer excellent prices on their products but you won’t get all the frills of great packaging and gift wraps because they are selling at such low prices. Before you make the purchase you will want to communicate with the seller and make sure that 1. They will ship to your girlfriends address… sometimes sellers will not ship to any address but the one you have associated with your account on Amazon. This is due to fraud and identity theft. 2. Ask them upfront if they will accommodate you in packaging the jewelry in a gift box. Most of the sellers who really care will be more than happy to help you, I know our company would go out of the way to help you… we’ve even included personalized birthday cards for our customers :-) 3. Ask them to make sure they do not include a sales receipt with your package. Otherwise, your girlfriend will know exactly what you spent on the item. It’s kind of like forgetting to take off the price tag on a Christmas present! 4. If the item is fragile or may be damaged in transit, ask them to make sure it is packaged securely and maybe see if you can get a tracking number and possibly insurance. That’s about the best I can tell you! I think that should cover all the points you need. Good luck to you and I hope your girlfriend loves the gift!

Best wishes, JP – AbramsJewelry.com

Question
How do you remove cigarette smoke from jewelry? Does anyone know how to without making the jewelry smell like the cleaner? The jewelry is costume jewelry made from pot metal and alloys not gold or silver so the metal is more porous and delicate.
I don’t smoke. I bought it this way and am trying to avoid returning it.
If you know a successful way please let me know.
I don’t smoke. I bought it from a smoker and need to get it clean.
I bought baking soda, lets see how it goes.
Although vinegar is a grease cutter it can also corode metal so I can’t use it.
Answered by masteroftech
i would think cleaning it with tarnx and rinsing it several times in cold water would remove it
Answered by justwondering
Probably any soap and water. It is really the tar that is leaving a film & smell. I had to use ammonia cleaner to get the heavy film/smell off furniture etc.
Answered by Isobelisintheair
throw it into a bag of baking soda for a night. in the morning, take it out and either shake it off (if it doesn’t have a bunch of detail and no baking soda is stuck in any holes or anything), rinse it off (if you can get it wet, i’m no tsure about pot metal), use a dry paintbrush to get the rest of the baking soda off, or use a can of compressed air. The baking soda *should* deodorize it and make the smell go away.
Answered by Iffy
Soak in a bowl of white vinegar then rinse well
Answered by Irv S
A soak in rubbing alcohol will dissolve the smoke tars.
A rinse in clean water will remove any lingering alcohol scent.
Question
I am a jewelry designer who is in the process of updating my website. When you shop online for jewelry what is most important to you? Do you want pictures of the jewelry only, or pictures of jewelry on a model so you can see how the jewelry looks on a person? Any other suggestions? Thank you in advance for your input.
Answered by Luckybeetle
Extreme closeups.
Have one picture with the model and one with a closeup of the jewelry.
A little of both…closeups to show the details, and some displayed on models. Works both ways.

Question
I have been dating this girls for two months now and I am crazy about her. I want to buy her something nice like jewelry, for christmas. By the time christmas comes we will have been dating for four months. If I get her jewelry, what kind should I get her. i cannot decide between a necklace or a ring. is it too early for a ring? thanks.

some cute christmas jewelry

Answered by jetfuelgeisha
A necklace would be nice, as it might be a little early for a ring. Avoid any “relationship” type jewelry such as Journey or Past, Present, Future. A clean, modern style would be best.
Avoid heart jewelry if possible, we own a jewelry store and hearts are traded back in all the time by wives and girlfriends!
Earrings are a nice present too, again, simple styles are best.

Good luck!

Answered by Jennifer
i would say that a necklace would be the most appropriate. especially a pretty pendant. something pretty yet different.

there are a lot of choices out there, feel free to explore!

Well, it may be just a little bit early for a ring, but what’s most important is the way you feel about her. I think a necklace would probably be the most appropriate and safest bet at this time. The ring can come later! There’s always Valentines Day and her birthday down the road. Good luck!

I was looking for something similar the other day for my sister for christmas, because I totally thought jewelry would be a good gift for her as she has everything else.
I was looking everywhere for something unique so she would love it, she likes to stand out from her mates.
I was looking around online and I found this site http://filipinamade.com/ they have some awesome jewelry, and I picked up a set for a really good price and they had free shipping! I was so happy.. and hopefully now my sister will be too. Maybe there might be something there you like?
