From Titleist.com; it’s a chart for all the settings. For reference, A1 is “neutral”.

Question
i just bought the new titleist 907 d2 and i admit its easy to hit but i just pulled out my 975 J from the garage and im a 2 handicap so i hit clubs fairly crisp and i must admit my 975 J is pretty much the same distance compared to these 460 drivers. i do understand its easier to hit 460 cc but i was just curious of what you guys think? do they help you more then they seem to help me?..to me the new drivers dont differ much for me and im thinking of returning my driver back for the 90% i’d get back.

the new drivers are a bit ridiculous. soon after the nike sumo sqaured was released it became illegal to use because it violated the PGA sizing rules. the sasquatch is also ridiculous and unnecessary. the most ridiculous has to be the new king cobra speed drivers that make the stupiest, loudest noise when you hit it. Staying titleist is a good call and they are not ridiculous in size. good choice and hit em straight.

I’m an 8 hdcp and I make good contact with the ball, and I agree with you here. I dont see much of an advantage of this new technology over the old technology as long as both are in good shape.

I think tech wise they have reached the max distance that they can get and still make a club legal. Now they are focusing on forgiveness, as that is all they can really improve.

I’m a huge believer in confidence in golf having a big deal to do with my swing and other stuff. So as long as you still have confidence in your 975 J, and you aren’t seeing any big difference in distance or anything like that, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t keep it, unless its in not so great condition. That being said I’m sure the 907 d2 is supperior technology, but what does technology mean if it doesn’t show results.

I know that the new drivers with higher M.O.I.(moment of inertia) help on mishits. I use the new Taylor Made Burner and have used other TM drivers under 425cc. Solid strikes with any of these are pretty similar in distance and accuracy but like I said the mishits are better with these new 460cc drivers. I still prefer looking down at the smaller head of my TM R510. I also think that the bigger head drivers are harder to shape shots with. I’d hang on to the 907 D2. It’s a pretty sweet club from what I hear.

I think the whole idea behind these new huge drivers is not so much for added distance but for added confidence and accuracy.

The new technology probably only adds an average of 5-10 yards from the regular titanium faced drivers. However, with the new technology, you can hit the driver off-center and not sacrifice nearly as much distance or accuracy as with the older drivers.

I am a bit of a traditionalist so I really don’t like the idea of these gigantic drivers flooding the golf shops. But I can’t stop it and I’ve hit one or two of the big drivers and I can’t really complain.

Now, as for justifying 500 dollars, plus, on one of them isn’t the easiest thing to do.

Question
does the screwdriver thing come with it so that you can change the setting of the club or do you have to buy it seperately
Answered by Steven
Separately.

all new technology is for keeping up the cash flow…I go back and hit my old persimmon once in a while and can still get 300 yards out of it…The same goes with putters…They make them too long and too light…Let material=less cost…Most guys on tour use shorter and heavier putters…I found a teaching pro who works with pga tour players and built me a putter with a 365 gram head weight to counteract the 34 inch putter I use..I’m putting better than ever…Remember, the pros are getting paid big bucks to use the new stuff, but they have better access to get the driver that fits them….Length, lie angle, shaft flex and so on…I absolutely hate the trend that’s going on in the golf business..I carry a mizuno mp001, it’s under 400 cc’s and I can hit it off the deck…Plus the new drivers sound like crap…Ding, Ding!!! Yuck

I have to say for me the new technology has made a difference , I am a four handicap and I have played exclusively the 975 J that I still have collecting dust in my closet , I have also owned and played the 983K which I was pretty consistent with I averaged 280-300 yards with that Driver , but then I went to the 905T and I gained massive yards my longest drive with that club was 368 yards , I recently traded that club in I played it for about 2 years and I purchased a 907D1 that club is the sh$ #t , I bettered my longest drive by 12 yards the first week I had that club from 368 yards to 380 and I am glad all my golf buddies were playing with me at the time in a tournament or they would not have believed me , so yes I believe the new technology works , but you still have to put a good swing on it , and are you crazy taking back that 907D2 get your head examined , you can only go down from their ! stick with it you will be ok !!
