The innovative Callaway Hyper X Driver provides a new benchmark in performance with the introduction of Hyperbolic Face Technology┢, redefining the look, feel and speed at which golf balls leave the clubface. Eight years in the making, our engineers have sculpted a more robust face that dramatically increases impact efficiency for greater distance on shots hit across the entire face. The 460cc head shape has been optimized for a high MOI while maintaining a traditional look. The advanced Fujikura® shaft adds to the driverâ?TMs incredible feel and performance.

Question
Im looking to spend about 200 dollars on a new or used driver
i meant to say drivers not golfers
Answered by JJ. T
the X460 is ok. i used it for a round but i wasnt real impressed. but i just wasnt used to it. the big bertha is a pretty good driver too.
i would just go hit a few different ones and see what you like the best. that way you buy exactly what you want.
good luck
Answered by stuartpdykes
Well you really are the best person to decide this. Try going to your local pro or range and asking to try some of the clubs at the range. If you show you are serious about buying, they will prob put some tape over the face and let you have a go.
A mate of mine has one and he loves it. He let me hit with it, I wasn’t so sure. I prefer my Cobra.
Answered by adambing81
I think the calloway 460 is a legendry driver and i 100% reccomend getting one ,its the best club ive put in my bag for years, it goes miles. Just try it you’ll see.
Question
In last weekend’s LPGA tournament, did Annika S. use the new square head Callaway FT-i driver that she is promoting in television ads or did she use her regular driver?
Answered by nas8caror300
i think she did she hit it a long way
Answered by Spartan Golfer
No, she uses it in the commercials and ads. But when she is actually playing, I know for a fact that she uses the new FT-5 driver.
Answered by Jack P
Its just like Vijay. He promotes the high bore driver from Cleveland, but I saw him playing the Launcher. He even says in the commercial “The highbore is going to change everything”
Question
This past Saturday (August 18, 2007), I scored a 2 on the 509 yard, par 5, no. 12 at Millwood Golf Club in Springfield, MO, using a driver and a 3-iron. I told the pro-shop about it because they are the one’s who are supposed to call things into the newspaper but the kid behind the counter told me they only call in hole-in-ones. I happened to know a guy who works for the local paper in Springfield and I called him and he had it put in for me.

Is there anyone else I need to report this to? Should I report it to Titleist (I was using a ProV1) or Callaway (I used a Callaway driver and 3-iron). Are there any groups or websites who keep track of these things?

Just curious. This was a once in a lifetime thing so I want to make sure I’m getting it recorded where it needs to be.

Answered by Curiam
Is there a way to prove it if there is I would call both Callaway and titleist.
Answered by swingman258
very nice accomplishment. but idk if anyone is gonna really say anything else except for congrats
Answered by glasstin10
Wow thats awesome. You must be a really good golfer…..=D
Well, about your question, titleist and other brands doesnt really report things unless you get like 2 straight hole in ones or something….. but….. you could try calling like the editor of golf digest or something. Most likely, the kid behind the counter didn’t know what you were talking about so ask the owner or the manager of the golf course if they hold a record book. But dont forget to mention this to your friends and family……. I hope my answer helped…. anyway………nice double eagle…..i hope you have many more!
Answered by higueramark
I wouldn’t bother with the ball and club folks, as they get these stories all the time(from all over the world)! Golf magazines maybe interested depending on how many Albatross have been hit on that course.
I would talk with the Club’s Pro and see what he says!
And remember, You know what you did,and you can always take pride in that!
Answered by berryv1
That is a great accomplishment , Congratulations !! You can report it but they wont do anything but tell you Great Job , You only get real recognition when you report a Hole -In-One , but anyway Great Job !!
Question
I am still using callaway titanium 360cc driver but thinking about getting an upgrade. It seems like newer drivers have all these perks and twinks that gives too much distance to players with absolutely no skills so I feel like I am cheating. What drivers do you recommend for intermediate/advanced players?
Answered by cdc
You should get 10 yard simply based on technology since your are using the older callaway driver. If you go to any 460cc new driver, you will gain distance. However, because the club head is bigger, you might lose club head speed. The shaft is actually more important for distance and control. If you are in fact an intermediate to advanced player, you should know that shafts make the golf club, not the club head.

But, if you want some suggestions for drivers, here are a few. Keep in mind everyone has their own bias toward companies.

Taylormade R7, R9, Burner Tour, Superquad
Ping- Any new ping driver
Callaway- Anything but that square piece
Titleist- Depends on your natural trajectory but any of the new 900 series or the D’s.

Your best bet is to go to golfsmith or a similar store and hit a bunch on the launch monitors. The experts can help you with proper spin rates and launch angles.

Hope this helps…

Answered by Timothy W
I think I can help with this one. In order to make your decision simpler I feel that you should look at the newer drivers from both ends of table. Now on your end you feel that the newer drivers give players with little to no skill an advantage off of the tee. That is 14 tee shots in a round (assuming the course has 4 par 3′s) Now a player with no skill that may appear to have some advantage off of the tee still has to hit iron shots, wedge shots and putts in order to save their score. Because almost everyone in golf enjoys hitting a golf ball just a little bit further, a high handicapper with a longer drive might just enjoy their day that much more after the agony of hitting the other shots. On the other end of the table, the advanced player will also find joy out of hitting longer shots off the tee. To be a bit more clear, nobody on any professional tour uses a 360cc driver. This proves that there is an edge to be gained by using newer technology, and the newer technology available to you is in accordance with the rules of golf (USGA)

As for what driver to choose, there are a few things to remember.

1. Use a launch monitor. All decent club fitters will have one. (e.g. Dick’s Sporting Goods)

2. Loosen up with your current driver and hit a few shots with it on the launch monitor. You will notice the difference at the end of your session(s)

3. Do what I did when I bought my driver. Pick up every driver within your budget at all of the different lofts and plan to spend a couple of hours swinging all of them. Be sure not to hit more that 2 balls per minute otherwise you will tire yourself out and your later results won’t be indicative of your swing.

4. Listen to the advice of the fitting professional. If he/she says that a certain shaft flex may work better then try it.

5. Remember that distance is not the best first impression. If you can hit a ball 300 yards with one club but spin it at 4000 rpm, then you can learn how to hit it 320 with a club that you spin the ball at 3000 rpm. The lower the spin the better.

6. Remember not to bias yourself towards any particular club manufacturer. My bag has a Nike driver, Adams 3 Wood and hybrid, Taylormade irons and 60 degree wedge, Cleveland 56 Degree wedge, Titleist Scotty Cameron Squareback putter.

7. Enjoy!

Hope this advice helps

Answered by green_lantern66
honestly, it depends. If you always hit it “on the screws”, you won’t notice a difference.

According to Frank Thomas, director of technology for the USGA for 25 years, the “sweet spot” of a club never gets bigger- it’s an impossibility due to physics. What a big driver does do for you is make your misses better. The clubs with high moment of inertia (MOI) prevent a clubhead from twisting on a mishit- thus providing better distance on poor strikes.

As an aside- Tiger and Anthony Kim use a new Nike DyMo that’s 380cc, since they need workability, not forgiveness.

nice shot. without video proof just enjoy the moment

  2. titleist5151 says:

very nice! congrads! i suggest you talk with the course owner or the guy in charge, not the kid behind the counter. see if they have a record book or anything similar. again congrads!

  3. Tim P says:

First of all, Congratulations. That is more rare than a hole-in-one. I have three of those, but never even come close to an albatross. I think the kid behind the counter didnt know what he was talking about. You do go there to report those. You did right to call the paper there to get your story in, usually they will ask for witnesses to the feat. I would definitely send something in to Titleist and Callaway. I am sure there are alot of Yahoo groups associated with golf to spread you great achievement. I would also try to find as much information as I could about other golf magazines and websites to see if I could get that rare feat publisized. Again, congratulations on your rare but very accomplished achievement.
