Setting a new benchmark for Exotics and the golf industry, the XCG-3 is the first fairway wood to incorporate a no-weld, combo-brazed heavy tungsten sole and titanium cup face and body. Tungsten is two times heavier than steel allowing even more weight to be placed below the ball for superior launch characteristics. The sole weighs 126 grams and represents an astonishing 63% of the club head’s total weight. This extra weight lowers the center of gravity for industry-leading forgiveness and remarkable workability. Making the XCG-3 truly world-class, the titanium cup-face features enhanced variable face technology with a thinner outer edge for more explosive rebound. Combining the face technology with the XCG-3’s perfectly-positioned center of gravity, this XCG-3 is capable of delivering astounding shots.

i know men especially mine are particular about their clubs so was looking to get some advice.
he was looking at taylormade three wood burners with a 15degree loft but the other night when he was looking online he was searching for 13.5 degree loft
what i was wondering is…. i was searching for a TM 3 wood with 13.5 but could not find one anywhere. should i go for the 15 degree or is there a 13.5 anyone could recommend?
any help would be great thanks
xx
i had a look on the taylormade website and the 3 wood burner didnt have the option of 13.5 degree loft :S
so would it then have to be custom made? as it would have been better to buy it as a suprise?
I was looking for a 2 wood – are there any?
My driver has been inconsistent of late. I’ve had days where all I could hit were fairways, and days when all I could hit was something other than a fairway!
So today i tried something different and used my 3wood on all but 1 driving hole. I hit the fairway every time except for one time. I hit it about 210 yards. I took out my driver on 16 and sliced it into the trees so I just used 3 wood for last two holes and was so much more successful. Unfortunately I was about 30 yards shorter and missed GIR on those 500+ yard par 5s and was short on some par 4s. But staying out of trouble with the 3 wood felt better than fighting trouble after hitting a poor drive.
Is a 2 wood any better? Is it more like a 3 wood?
I found a Cleveland Hibore XL 2-wood and a Callaway Big Bertha Fusion Strong 3-wood. Tried both.
The 3+ wood didn’t fly as far as my current Taylor Made Burner 3 wood so the “+” didn’t make a difference.
The Hibore XL flew nice and straight and was hot off the face. More control than my 10.5 degree Cobra LV4-M driver and I probably got 20 yards more than my 3 wood.
And yes, the only real difference in a 3 wood and strong 3 wood is the 2 degree loft difference in most cases. A lot of companies call a strong 3 wood a tour spoon.
**Important things to consider**
1) You should give at least 3 degrees difference between each club.
2) Set up your clubs according to proper loft separation. You should find lofts of your lowest iron/hybrid and then select proper lofts on your fairway woods.
3) If you’re a low ball hitter, then you might need more loft on fairway woods.
Because popularity of hybrid clubs these days, I think manufactures stop calling “3-wood”, “5-wood”, etc. They rather sell clubs based on degrees (loft) on clubs.
15= standard three wood
18= five wood (sometimes a 19* is labeled a 5 wood, as well)
5 wd = 19 deg

Why not hit your driver like your 3-wood?
Set up the same way and take the same swing, the only difference will be the ball will come out lower and travel longer.
You don’t need a 2 wood.
Fairway woods have a lower center of gravity than they used to. Try a hybrid. I got a 2 hybrid a while ago as a substitute for my 5 wood and I get plenty of loft on it. As far as 3 wood goes, move it further up in your stance and that may help you get more loft. Another option is to use an older model 3 wood. I have an old Ping I3 3 wood that I could always get in the air.
