Question
I am a low handicap player and currently am playing with the Titleist J Driver. I am looking for a new driver, preferably Titleist, but do not no which one to get. I want to get with the new technology and Titleist offers many new drivers…905S,R,etc….
Do any of you have any recommendations? If you have a new Titleist, how is the forgiveness? Accurate? Longer? Driver head to big to look at? Recommend any other driver?

Anything helps.

Thanks

It has the 3 new Titleist 905 drivers and you click on whatever one then click on reviews for many product reviews.

Go to the Titleist website and look for the next demo day in your area. You need to hit them to find the right one for your swing. They are great drivers when you have the right one.

There are slight differences in the 905 R,S, and T. I’m currently playing with a Mizuno MP001 and can’t wait to get my hands on a 905R with the ProForce shaft. I’ve hit one and it was unbelievable. Every ball was very long and straight. Just luck? Nope, I went right back to my Mizuno and hit it like I always have, slightly inconsistent. My vote is the 905R.

The Titleist “J” was a very hot club for it’s time. It has never been known as a “forgiving” driver. The “K” is a little bigger head. Demo a few from the golf shop. I recommend trying the Ping G5. I was a Titleist J user for a long time. The newer design drivers are every bit as long and more forgiving.
Question
My dad bought me a titliest 975j pro titanium driver. It seems like a pretty nice driver. It has a nice comfortable winn grip and a flex graphite shaft. Is it a quality driver????
Answered by Must Be The Clouds In My Eyes
top of the line actually , its a very well made club
Answered by cdc
It is a quality club, as are all Titleist clubs. Having said that, it is pretty outdated. The technology of drivers has far surpassed the 975 series. I still know alot of people that swear by that driver, but in my opinion it is past it’s prime. Maybe you should try the 905R or something along those lines. Maybe even the AP1 or AP2 drivers from titleist. At a certain point, when you are serious about getting better, you need the appropriate equipment.
Answered by legalbgl
It stinks, give it to me and I will take care of it.
Answered by M V
Yep, its a quality weapon. But whether or not it works with your swing is another story……….
Answered by phatboy
I also use a titlist driver. Though the club might be a little outdated it is still of very high quality. The way I see it, if you play well with it don’t worry about it.
Question
I rented some Titleist clubs and hit a 983 pretty well. I’d like to buy one, but ebay offers so many different models. If I can’t find a 983 standard flex, 10.5 degree, are any of these other models comparable?
Answered by J
975 is an obsolete model…it’s from around 2000
983 models came out in about 2002-2003. The E version produces a lower ball flight than the K
905 came out in about 2004-2005 and provides a decent size head.
906 is the current model out and not provides the large size head like other brands with more forgiveness than the older models.

My advice is to try a Taylormade or Nike driver. They are more forgiving to the average player. Titleist brands themselves as clubs for top tier players…meaning the sweet spot is not as big. Crappy golfers still buy their clubs though just because the want to “pose” as a good player.

But get what you feel comfortabale with…that’s what’s most important

Question
what year did the line of titleist 907 drivers come out?
Answered by TEACHER
I think in 2007

Question
I have a G2, but have heard that Titleist drivers are way better, true??
Answered by Peter_Griffin
Both are good…I have a Ping G5 driver and Titleist irons.

Both companies are at the top of the market, so it just comes down to personal preference. Neither is “way better” imo. Go demo each, choose one, get fitted, and play well.

Answered by kosmoistheman
Neither.

Taylormade is the #1 driver on the PGA Tour. I personally like the sound and the way the Taylormade 425 looks at address better than other clubs. I like the way titleists set up and even the new Nike SQ Sumo has a good feel. I generally don’t like the setup or the way PING drivers sound, but to each his own.
Answered by mattmtv
I believe that Titleist is probably better, but I would aslo agree that TaylorMade is the best driver on the market. I have never liked the look of PING drivers. I guess you would have to see how many pros are using which driver, since they are the professionals.

  1. vdrive_60 says:

It’s a great driver, but you better have a great swing to go with it. Titleist drivers are made for better golfers. They are not very forgiving off miss-hits.

  2. jc gives thumbs up to snoop says:

Other than being several years old and not being a giant 460cc driver…it’s a great club. If you can hit that…these 460cc drivers will feel like “can’t miss”.

  3. Spartan Golfer says:

Titleist Drivers are for betters players. Pings are more forgiving.

    I love Taylormade Drivers.

The Callaway Ft-5 was named Golf Digest’s Editor’s Chioce for best driver.

  4. nicolas b says:

I like both but have used Titleist for 3 years now and I would prefer them over PING they are nice but lack the durablilty that Titleist have i had a PING driver for a year before it broke I bought a Titleist for my dad and he has used it for 6 years now and it is still in good condition

  5. Gol4dude says:

I hit the Titleist 907 D1 driver (the new ’07 model) at a demo day w/ a ton of companies. I was originally going to get it but then changed my mind after hitting the Callaway FT-5. The 907 was alright, but to me the FT-5 was so much straighter. So now I’m getting the Callaway, but they are sooo hard to find w/ the specs I want that fit me. Most stores only have an average of 7 of the drivers that I have visited, their popular.

Between your two, I’d say Titleist.

At the event, they had a guy who drove the ball 400 yards and he had a Titleist 905 driver.

  6. jayz says:

as far as performance goes, its pretty much the same. if one company’s technology superseded another, wouldn’t they use it as well? they might be different in shape and size but if a robot was to test both drivers, u will not see a difference in distance.
there is one difference between the 2 and that’s just the demand. titleist products have more demand than ping meaning if u wanted to sell it in the future or trade it in, the titliest will remain at a higher value than ping.
either drivers are a good buy since both clubs hold their resale value very well and are high in demand, low in supply. just don’t fall into junks like taylor mades, nikes, adams, n the other inferior manufacturers. if u want to know why u shouldn’t buy those brands, read my answer for a question titled “nike vs taylor made”

  7. unagieel says:

If you go by consumer polling, most would tell you the Ping G5 is the best and most forgiving driver for the average player. However, I find the Cleveland Launcher a very good driver, better than taylor made or titleist. It’s close competition to the Ping.

  8. t says:

i like the titleist driver, but i had to put a woman’s shaft on it
