Question
Answered by Sloth
I don’t know about the r5 but I’ve heard nothing but good things about the r7 and r9.
Answered by golfrguy
The r5 is a little old, i suggest forking up the extra money for a r7 or r9
Answered by Paul S
i liked it – until someone stole it out of my bag that it . . but thats neither here nor there.

i would forgo paying the extra money for r7 or r9 unless you are a single digit handicap / serious golfer

year to year companies don’t make that many changes to their products – ask the reps – they make tiny changes and stress different things to make sales.

Answered by Gravity 4 Me
The Taylormade R5 driver is a top notch club with set weights in the head ie non moveable. This club gets a high ball flight naturally so don’t approach impact too steeply. There is nothing wrong with the club itself. Good luck.
Answered by green_lantern66
There’s really little difference between the r5 and r7 (sorry, movable weights and all that jazz don’t do anything for me). The only thing the r9 has going for it is its adjustability. To use a little pro perspective, Graeme McDowell won the US Open this year with a similarly aged Callaway FT-3. The real difference? His driver is perfectly fit to him. If you forego the fitting, it won’t matter what r-series driver you use- it won’t wrok as well as it possibly can for you, and possibly just work against you.
Question
I have a bad slice from left to right only with my driver. What driver by Taylor Made can somebody suggest?
Answered by weapondrift
In most cases its not necessarily the club that will improve your performance, which alot of people mistake. Thats like saying “what kind of shoe do I need to buy to improve my running speed.” My best advice is to work more on your tecnique, maybe your stance is off. Or maybe your holding the club wrong during the swing. Anywho this site might help you out. Best of luck :)

I agree with the answer above me, but I also understand the need for a quick fix. Get fitted to a TM R7 425. It has four weights that you can configure to fit you swing to the flight path you desire.
Answered by x-15a2
The previous answer is correct, the best way to cure your slice is to correct your swing. A correct swing will both reduce the slice and improve your distance.

Thats said, any Taylormade driver with adjustable weights will help, just set the weigths to a draw bias. Any of the R7′s with adjustable weights would do nicely, the rest depends on the head size that you prefer. I would, however, stay away from the R7Draw, in that it is pre-set for a draw bias and cann’t be adjusted.

Answered by Ltgolf
The new Taylor Made Draw driver is spicifically made for that purpose. All adjustments are allready built in the club.

I’m a fellow slicer as well. My buddies gave me a R5 Type D for Xmas. I still slice but the new driver tames it, but maybe it’s all in my head because I think the club is able to help my slice?

I was also using some tips from the link below.

Question
i have hit the both the driver and 3 wood and loved them but dont want to spend the money to get them. so i looked at these clones and they looked the same. has any one ever had any experience with the clones.
Answered by bridad36
Obviously they look the same, hence the word “clones”. I highly recommend against getting clones, because the only thing thats the same is looks. They are made out of different materials and are probably much more likely to brake than the normal ones. I think the driver is only 150 bucks new when it used to be 300. I suggest biting the bullet and getting normal ones for your own good.
Answered by mabisking26
Might be ok try to get a good deal on some taylormades anyway be patient clones can be inferior.
Answered by ponts
worked in a golf factory in hong kong(custom clubmakers) who at the time was casting the original callaway big berthas and king cobra oversize irons and there was no difference in materials used, the only difference was the stamps put into the backs of the casts were different. they were marketed as king snake, crown viper and big bazza irons. having said that, most knock offs are put together by people who generally have no idea regarding swing weight, length and total weight which has a dramatic impact on feel. that’s why you pay the extra for the real thing. also i would recommend checking ebay at least once, some cheap clubs about.
Answered by Treeleaper
If price is a problem you’d be better looking for a set of name second hand clubs. Some pro shops would be pleased to help you with that.
Answered by Tad
actually,.the clones ones and the real one are the same.no big difference, you can purchase some discount golf clubs.I found this this site several month ago.The quality of the clubs are pretty good and the price is so cheap.Maybe you can have a look.www.easybuygolf.com
Question
Would a 10.5 driver help me hit straight drives????????????????????
Answered by debo169
Not Exactly i’ve hit a 9 degree 9.5 degree and a 10.5 degree and for the most part the only difference is that the ball will go higher with each half degree it goes up, but on the other had the ball does tend to go a bit straighter every now and then.
Answered by wbaker777
The only thing that provides accuracy is good swing mechanics. Merely changing equipment will not provide the accuracy you seek.
Answered by josh m
It should help. More loft on any golf club puts more backspin on the ball in the air. The more backspin on the ball, the straighter the ball flight. This is why it’s so much easier to hit a 9 iron straight vs. a 3 iron. However, if your swing is flawed, you’ll still have a hard time hitting the fairways. If that’s the case, consider teeing off with your 3 or 5 wood.
Answered by Bye
If it’s an older club with a lot of mileage on it, you might consider the possibility that the face is beaten out of square, meaning hitting it in certain spots on the face could send it off in crazy directions. If you really like the loft of the 9.5, see if you can test hit some other newer 9.5′s on a practice range before going after more loft. 10.5 is too much loft for most decent players.
Answered by dennis w
you need lessons and you need to know your swing speed the faster the swing with control .most people hitting the 9.5 has a swing speed over 100 mph .
Question
i just got the taylor made tour burner driver, and i absolutely love it! I have cleveland cg4 irons, and was thinking of getting taylor made tour burner irons. would you stick with the cg4 or what?
Answered by Matt
Well i also have the tour burner :D its great. Anyway i have used the irons too as a demo are they were very solid. Depends do you like your irons enough to not blow a lot of money? They are great but they do cost a lot of money…. Proboly worth it if you have the money.

Good Luck

Answered by Daniel 4 golf
it depends on your own feel. you can try the TM tour burner irons first to see if it is your liking.
Answered by Bill

i havent had any experience if the taylormade r5′s are good, but i have the taylormade r7 limited driver and that driver suits me well as i have gained distance which my previous driver was a mizuno mx 560 which was launching to high

  2. mauae1 says:

Unlike the other guy i would buy a used R5 D, it is cheap and can help a bit. Your swing is the problem but this will help and it wont set you back $ 400 like the R7 will, then if you like it upgrade to the new R7.

  3. madisonblly says:

I am not a big fan of taylormade but the new r7 draw will help your slice. This club has more weight in the toe of the club it promotes more of a release to square the face on sliced shots.
there are many clubs designed to help your slice but think about this what if your swing changes then your club is no good to you anymore. The r7 draw is designed for the slicers swing my suggestion for you is to groove your swing so its more rounded fix your setup until your swing is coming from a inside approach. Do this and you will naturally release the club no special club needed in my opinion callaway makes the best drivers if you do go with taylormade get the standard version and work on your swing don’t get a club that’s a temporary band-aid..

  4. peterson9539@sbcglobal.net says:

ya know something,, let me say this,, I’ve owned the Taylor made, titiest drivers, and i just got fed up, i went and had my own driver made for me, from the shaft to the head, and doing this i went to a guy that made clubs for people. it took about three days for this to happen because he needed to put me on three machines to test my swing speed, my ball trajectory, and the spin of my golf balls off the club head,, now i have big red, its a 455 bore action, the same head that they use for the long ball comp, and of course a stiff shaft, which is the most important part of the club, but he will have to advise that for you after the testing..Go with a made club just for you,, Now iam driving the ball about 260 to 290, and i feel alot more confident off the tee

  5. ag13kings09 says:

Clone clubs are really hit and miss on weather they will perform similar to their counterpart driver, fairway etc. However they are usually made of different materials (often steel instead of titanium) which can lead to shorter drives on woods. Also i know Taylormade has been doing something with their drivers for along time which is make the drivers faces hot which means that they will supply heavy launch of the face making the club furhter. I have had a friend buy a bootleg r7 CGB Max and said it was sub par to the real model. If money is a problem go to http://www.golfsmith.com you can buy the Tour Burner for $ 130 its like a fathers day sale and i think it continues after or you can get the 2007 burner or burner draw for $ 150 which seems odd. These are great clubs i was using the Tour Burner 9.5 loft and stiff until i got my R9.

  6. Alex B says:

Changing the loft from 9.5 to 10.5 will make you hit it higher. If you want to become more accurate, take a few golf lessons and fix the mechanics of your swing. Then you will be hitting it strait in no time
