Question
Heard that adding heavier weights on the moveable weight technology drivers like R7 can increase drive distance. Eg, 18 or 20 gram weights not available thru taylor made. There is a website, driverweight.com, that seems pretty convincing. Anyone out there tried it themselves?

I can’t comprehend how adding weight would increase club head speed. Actually the opposite is true. Lighter swings faster.
Answered by GC
it does not add distance, the heavier the weights (assuming you keep the ball flight neutral) the higher or lower your ball flight will be.

to have a high trajectory: have 2 heavy weights in the back, and 2 light weights in the sides so maybe a 2g, 20g, 20g, 2g.

to have a lower traj., have a heavy weight, then 2 light weights, then another light weight on the outside. so maybe: 20g, 2g,2g,20g.

yes i have tried after market weights, and the site looks legit. i have tried them for another driver and they worked fine.

good luck.

Answered by DODGERFAN4LIFE
its kinda hard to have i right answer, because i think that it would increase distance but the heavier the club the less distance you would have.
Question
I bought a used Taylor made driver that did not include the weight changing wrench.
Answered by laurae323
You should go back to whereyou purchased it to have your swing analyzed and have the Club Tech adjust it so it is done properly.
Answered by wbaker777
The weights in a TM are Torx head Not allen head.
Answered by Leafsfan29
No, you need the tool that comes with the driver in order to adjust the weights.
Answered by Flatstick
No it won’t work.
Answered by pinoy-ako
You can’t use the allen key to remove the wights, use the torx tools to remove it, you can buy itt o any hardware store. I done it before.
Question
Prices on ebay are @ an ave of $ 200 compared to $ 300 for other golf stores.
Answered by r7tourpro
ebay is always cheaper, keep in mind that some of the clubs on ebay are not authentic clubs, you have to make sure that the clubs have a serial number and also note that golf club companies tend to over charge for new equipment, hope this answers your question…=)
Answered by ~PeRsOn~
ebay are usually junks many golf clubs are not made by the manufacturer they are FAKE unless some1 bought it and didnt like it
golf store you can trust and you also have warranties

i crack my taylormade driver face and got it replace for free and it worth like $ 400
also happened to my 3 wood and also got replacement

Question
I’m a mid-90′s golfer and plan to have this thing for at least 5 years. Let me know if you need any more information to make a suggestion… Thanks for the help.
Answered by Pretty Boy
The Burner defietly. It makes you hit high if you hit the ball low. also it has good feedback when you hit it good. It has maxed out distance too. if you have a golf headquarters or something like that you can try them out there.
Answered by Joseph S
My guess would be that since you are a mid-90′s golfer you have a swing speed between 90 and 100 mph. The way the burner is set up is an oversized address area, a deep face height, high lauch and a mid grade spin, which is set up for optimal forgiveness. The R7 Quad I would recommend a swing speed of atleast 100 mph, that and there are a lot of variables with the adjustments that can be made. I have hit the burner and it is real easy to hit, the Quad is a nice driver aimed at a lower handicapped. I would go to a golf shop that has the booth with the screen you can hit into that measure swing speed and distance, but the Burner is probably the driver best suited for your skill level. Hope this helps!
Answered by GolfBlogger.Com
Head to your local pro shop and try them out. There are so many variables in choosing a club that you really need to try them for yourself. Even better: get a clubfitting. You may find that the TaylorMades are not the best choice for you and your game. The last time I went in to get a driver, I ended up with one I had never considered, turned out to be better for my game, and was cheaper too.
Answered by bobgolfer#1
I’m in mid-80′s but i have a R5 duel. If i were you i would get the burner because they have done more studies with it. I’m not sure if you get golf magazine but it is supposed to be good for the people in the 90′s
Answered by thefistofdoom
Get the Quad. You have a unique opportunity to change characteristics of the club as your swing changes a little, making it more useful in the long run.

Adding extra weight to the ‘heel’ of the club will help a draw flight. Weight in the ‘toe’ will be the neutral setting.
Answered by Big Buddy
go to www.taylormadegolf.com and select the driver that you have – it will have a weight configurator that will actually show you which weight to put where to achieve the ball flight that you desire – good luck
Answered by James D
I know what u mean, how to move them. They dont understand u. They think u want a draw or something. Im not sure how to do it but my friend has a r7 and u have to buy the weigths and a tool to do it…hope that helps!

  1. Mizer says:

I own the R7 Superquad. You need a torque wrench. I’d suggest buying the one that matches your driver from TaylorMade. The torque wrench they sell won’t allow you to overtighten the moveable weights.

I included a link to their website.

  2. knh959 says:

Probably the Burner is a better option. The off the rack shaft is 50 gms as opposed to 65 for the R7 allowing you to increase your club head speed slightly. When I was in the market for a new driver I tried both the R7 and the burner and I prefered the Burner hands down over the R7. I found that I had to work much harder for a good drive with the R7 whereas after only a few attempts with the Burner I was striking the ball cleanly. What you need to do though is go to your local pro and try them both. Most good courses will have a TaylorMade fitting center at the practice facility. I think the Burner is a little cheaper if that matters.
