Question
Recently, I’ve went to the local golf store Golf Galaxy to look for for golf drivers. I am of intermediate skill level in golf and my height is about 5 foot 4 inches. All of the drivers were too tall, and it was uncomfortable for me to swing with them even when I choked down the club. I’m wondering if there are any clubs you would recommend or whether I should just stick with using a wood.
Answered by Greg
You should find a decent driver that you like that is in your price range and then ask them to cut it down for which means they will make it the correct length for you.
Answered by Connor Spencer
i am 13 to and shoot low 40s from mens tees i got a used king cobra 5000 inarita and cut it down i hit i around 200 yards
Answered by Evan Bauer
Go to your local golf score and @Connor Spencer shut up no you don’t maybe on 9 holes so then you would shoot like 85 so it’s not that good have a good day and get your facts right

I recommend the Taylormade Burner driver. I am 16 and I love this club..
its been easy to use as a teen and I know many kids who use it…

it is really lightweight and easy to hit. It isnt expensive (like 125$ new) and its top notch driver

burners are often used by teens and you will be happy with it

Question
I use a PRGR lady driver and have found recently that I hit much further and still straight with my husband’s PRGR driver. However, I’m afraid that I may develop bad habits or any negative impacts on my swing if I continue to use a man’s driver. What negative effects, if any, will using men’s drivers/irons on a woman’s golf swing or physique?

This is your biggest problem?

None, assuming you are tall enough to use it with the correct swing.

your golf balls will itch

Hello mouse

There are no negitives, the difference in mens and womens clubs are the length and weight.

Mens clubs are a bit longer and a few grams heavier.

It appears the only thing that can happen to your game is that its getting better since useing it.

Question
Golf irons have flat faces, so why are driver’s faces rounded?
Answered by glfpro
Drivers have to take into account two factors; center of gravity and gear effect. The head of the driver rotates around the center of gravity, which located back in the club head (away from the face.) Assume you are hitting a right-handed driver. The toe of the club is rotating in a counter-clockwise direction more quickly than the heel of the club. That rotation would put hook spin (counter-clockwise spin) on the golf ball of it were struck on the toe of the club. Conversely if the ball were struck with the heel of the club, it would put slice spin (clockwise spin) on the ball. So…the club face is rounded because a ball struck with hook spin needs to start out to the right and vice-versa for slice spin, the ball needs to start to the left to counter the effect of the spin. The rounded face helps the toe shots get pushed a little and the heel shots get pulled a little. Irons have the center of gravity closer the face and the gear effect is lessened, therefor no rounding is needed. Look at you clubs. The larger the head, the more rounded the face. Sorry for the long answer…hard to sum up.

Question
i have recently hit a smaller club driver while on vacation( a old ping driver) and likes the feel of a smaller driver. my question is are there any good drivers in year 2007+ that are smaller then 460cc? i know the r9 is but other then that.
Answered by ??????????
well its not from 2007+ but the callaway 454 titanium is a very good driver.
Answered by Daniel
6cc is an almost unnoticable difference, ??????

Taylormade R7 Limited is a smaller head, around 440, I think.
Titleist 909 D3 is another smaller one.

You’ll probably struggle to find anything smaller than 400cc these days though, the manufacturers just don’t see the market for it.

Answered by Norm Jones
Hello there,

While not necessarily made since 2007, there are a lot of good drivers smaller than 460 cc on the market. I carry a Taylormade R580.

If you have not already done so, you should check at eBay. There is a wide selection of used and unused clubs there. You may need to watch for a few days before you find the specific club you decide to get. Recently, I saw one seller there selling unused Nike drivers with smaller heads that had been manufactured for Tiger. Those were being dumped to the public because Tiger switched to a 460 a few years back.

The point is, if you are willing to search hard enough and long enough at eBay, you can find some very good clubs at your price.

Good luck to you,

  1. weatherization guy says:

If the shaft flex is right for you, you should be OK. Seniors (like me) and lady’s (like you) require a shaft with more flex, cause we don’t swing as hard/fast as young males (those were the days). If the shaft is too stiff for you, you won’t come around on the ball in time and you’ll either slice or push the ball a little more than normal. Since you stated you’re hitting straighter with your husbands driver than with yours, I’d say the shaft flex is right. If you’re looking for even more distance, I’d try switching balls to an 80 compression. I’ve gained about 15 yds. off the tee by dropping down from 90 to 80 comp. And don’t that tick off the younger guys I play with when I blow by them with a ladies ball?!?! If you’re interested in pure distance, try the Precept Lady Diamond, if you like a little softer feel (with distance), try the MC Lady. The MC Lady’s scuff quicker than I like, so I have to change balls more often, but at $ 8 a dozen, who cares?

simply put,if you hit it good, no negatives…

  3. t says:

i would say whatever works best 4u, i think u should go to a golf shop and try out a lot of drivers and see what works best for u. i am thinking you need a more weighted driver, alot of men’s drivers have more weight

  4. Sam B says:

The only difference is that the womens are lighter than the mens drivers i suggest you keep using ur husbands driver

  5. kimglf says:

There might be no negative effects. Men’s drivers are slightly longer, possibly heavier (not always, though), have a heavier swingweight (how the club feels when you swing it), sometimes less loft, and have a stiffer shaft. In theory, you might have difficulty squaring the clubface at impact, meaning the ball would fly to the right, and you might have difficulty hitting the ball high enough. However, theory is not always reality. In my case, I am a 48-year-old female golf professional (actually, I’ll be 48 tomorrow!) with a swing speed that in theory would put me in a senior shaft flex (between a men’s and women’s), but my driver has a stiff shaft and 8.5 degrees of loft. That’s blows all of the theories. I hit it farther and with better control. The sales rep (also a golf professional) couldn’t believe it. Go with what works for you.
