Blade putters golf, i currently have a mallet putter?
Question
and wondered the benefits of a blade putter or what type of players it suits. Also some recommended ones and any extra detail, thanks.
Answered by PARAMORE
I love the blade style putter. it suits a player that likes to be right over the ball. Alot of tour players use blade style putter. I use the Odessey white hot xg 14, its the same one phil michelson uses, and i love and recommend it!
Answered by googie
Blade putters have been around since the game was founded. Many golfers prefer the blade that is properly balanced to a mallet head. Blade putters seem to work best on fast greens since there is less mass and weight to contend with, making the stroke easier to perform. The mallet head is great for slower greens. The golfer has to make the decision as to which club gives him confidence when he stands over the ball.
Question
I currently have a scotty camron newport 2.7, but i want to return it because i believe its over priced, but i wanna get something that is close to the quality. Ime fifteen years old and a 12 handicap
Answered by cupojoe998
i recently picked up one of these

http://shop.callawaygolf.com/Womens/Putters/White_Hot_XG/White_Hot_XG_Teron_Putter.html

and i love it so much i cant use the putters you get a miniature golf places i have to bring this with me. its a bit expensive but once you get out on the green you will feel every dollar in your swing, its worth that much IMO.

The best putter for you is the best putter for you! Meaning the golfer makes the putter, the putter does not make the golfer. You can put with anything, really! All you have to have is the feel for it, Really! It is exactly the same principle as shooting – you do not need to aim down the barrel just point and shoot. bow and arrow no need to aim down the shaft – just pint and release. football no need to aim just feel the lead and let it go. Relax dude get ride of the overpriced crap (stop making some self proclaimed expert rich) and get a simple putter that feels good in your grip (like when you pick a baseball bat) and then go drop em in.

if you like blade putters titleist scotty cameron is the way to go but if your into mallet putters check out rife and odyssey i like the 2 ball f7 putter by odyssey also the taylormade rosa blade putters can measure up to titleist
i would say rife is my personal favorite
Answered by Tim H
I own a Rife putter and I have to say that it is probably better than a Scotty Cameron for less money.
Answered by green_lantern66
Go with the Ping Anser- that’s what SC used as the prototype for the Newport, anyway.
Question
Some golf putters (e.g. Rife and Yes! Golf) have groves that the makers claim reduce initial skidding and skipping. This is supposed to make putts more consistent in initial direction. If this is true, why don’t more tour players use these putters?
Answered by dre9889
I’ve seen the commercials and the Yes! putters, but i’ve never bothered to put with one, so i’m not sure if it works or even has that much of a difference. A lot of putters have unique faces, I think the Taylormade Rossa has an insert with grooves on the face. Its just a question of preference with the pros, and while it might reduce the initial skipping of the golf ball, it could lack in other areas.
Answered by Spartan Golfer
Yes, it definately makes a big difference.

It does start actually rolling much quicker, but thing about it, with a normal putter, with all the skidding and jumping, have you ever really seen it go off-line because of that?

So does it make a difference? Yes and No.

Tour players do use the Yes! putters, even though they are not paid to, that shows how good the putters are. Also, pros will get paid alot of money to use their companies sponsored putter.

Hope this explains it to you.

Answered by chosen_one_of_atlantis
I used to have a Yes! putter when it was still owned by swashbuckler and one when it was still C-Groove, and I didn’t notice much of a difference when putting. However, when I went to the Yes! company and got a custom made putter, they had me putt in front of a camera and measured things like the backspin on the putter, whatever… the putters give the ball less backspin and make it begin rolling right away so that the roll is more consistent, but it has such a small effect that most tour players don’t bother…. also most golfers are sponsored by other companies, and many putters have similar grooves on them that have similar effects.
Answered by Kathryn
this is false, that is just the theory, based on the manufactur with putter with line on them.

I love my YES! putter..it has suchhh a good feeling to it. I was gonna get a scotty but then i saw the YES! and couldnt deny it! =]

Answered by brianj0526

no matter where you go, all the clubs will be the same price because there is a set price except for ebay. if you want your clubs cheap, you will find them there. you should get both of those clubs at least $ 50 off
Answered by Belle
Visit a pawn shop, one man’s lost is aonther’s gain.

Tons of clubs; sometimes so new they still have their plastic.

I’d be sure to confirm if they’re legitimate or not, call the company from your cell phone and confirm the serial number is not a knock off.

Good luck

Nothing compares to a Scotty Cameron. With out a doubt, the best putter designs available. STAY W/ A SCOTTY…YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DON’T

  2. nixboy301 says:

if you’re referring to a milled face then yes, they are played frequently on the tour especially with Odyssey Rossie putters. they come with a milled insert.

hope this was what you were referring to.

  3. SoccerFan13 says:

I believe putters with grooves actually do improve the initial roll and direction of the golf ball. I used an Aserta Eclipse for many years. Aserta was one of the first companies to put grooves on the putter. In fact they have a new technology that puts a laser cross cut on the face that is even better than the grooves. What happens is the ball adheres to the cross cut section, and no matter what your swing path the ball goes straight and rolls immediatley. Really cool.

Tour players use what works for them. Putting is such an important part of the game, especially at that level. There aren’t too many pros that will use a putter that doens’t give them the best opportunity to make every putt. With that said, most guys on tour can get their ball started in the right direction. They don’t need all of the technology that goes into putter making today. Especially if they have been using the same putter for many years. Let’s face it, guys at the tour level are phenominal players. They wouldn’t have been able to get there if they couldn’t already putt. Why cahnge your putter when it isn’t broken.

Some club makers like Scotty Cameron believe that the weight of the ball actually causes a depression in the turf below the ball. For this reason Scotty believes that there must be an initial launch of the ball off of the putter to get the ball up and out of it’s depression.

It’s all theory. But most of all, both the groove theory and the launch theory are both correct. Just find a putter that looks and feels good to you. Then, spend 70% of your practice time putting. If you do that you’ll be able to put with a frying pan on the end of a stick.
