Question
Do I get a size based on his height or what criteria?
Answered by Mark K
Grab his puttEr he has now and measure the shaft. Or take it with you to pro shop. Odyssey and Rife putters are sweet. Me I use an old Bullseye with a brand new two tone leather grip. But look at Odyssey and Rife. Sweet putters. A nice simple putter which they make are nice. Simple is best.

There are other things to consider. Height, for sure, but arm length, how he swings the putter (on an arc, or back and through?), what type of putter he like, etc.

Do yourself a favor- take him to a local golf shop… hopefully, just “go out” and he’ll suggest going to one. Take him in and steer him to the putters. Let him play around with one till he says “I really like this one!”. Make sure the place you go to can do putter fitting, and suggest he get fit for a putter. Do all this before hand, so if his putter needs to be special-ordered, it’ll arrive on or near his birthday.

One tweak to this is, after he gets fit for his putter, you could also order it online. Use the specs the fitter gave him. It might also be able to ship faster, if you’re facing a deadline.

I bet he’d be pretty surprised when it arrives on his doorstep on his birthday.

Yes, the Ping Craz E is a very popular putter. Has he mentioned that one to you?

I use a Never Compromise VooDoo Daddy heel shafted mallet style putter and have my eye on the Odyssey Sabertooth.

There are variations which you need to consider that your boyfriend may have a strong preference for. Such as loft, length and grip.

Rather than trying to guess what he wants I would recommend either a gift certicate to a pro shop, Edwin Watts or Golf Galaxy and let him make his own choices.

The other option is for you to take him there and say “Happy Birthday!! I want to buy you a new putter, what do you like?”

A putter is a very personal type club. More of those are discarded and purchased yearly than any other club. Go to the pro shop or sporting goods store and let him pick out the club he prefers. Then, if he finds that he doesn’t get the results he expected you will not be blamed. Sound Good ?

Golf clubs are very personal items, what we like or whats popular doesn’t mean its good for your boyfriend! as has already been said take him along to the local pro shop and let him pick out the one that suits him best. All that said i own several PING putters, including the Craz E, Ug-Le and several incarnations of the Anser, but always go back to the 40year old Anser i fell for about 15 years ago. Good Luck

Question
It appears to have been made in 1966

Answered by Casey
Well many ping putters have been becoming collectors items, but it is i dont believe that one from 1966 is quite old enough to be a collectors item unless it is more different from the normal putters made in that year than you described.

Try eBay. Golf stores such as Golfsmith will never give you fair market value for a club. I have brought in brand new clubs before and gotten less than half of what it is worth. Fool me once….
Answered by ponts
got 1 too, hard to get rid of, pros will sometimes pay close to 2k for em but a shop will give you jack shit, ray drummonds in melb, australia told me mine wasn’t worth anything because it was old but they could give me $ 25 trade in on a new putter. most people have no idea about the scottsdale stamp as opposed to the Phoenix stamp so dont really know what to tell you. maybe try the pga website
Answered by Justin S
google can be your friend…. Says they range from $ 1500 to $ 4000 us dollars.
Answered by no idea?????
you have a high valued putter. it has retained its value even though the market in golf and other sports items crashed. there is a ping collectors site. you will receive top value if you advertise on this site. ping collectors.com or ping collectors . org. avoid e bay. the club is to valuable. do not consign seller will want 30 percent commission. do follow other gentle mans advice on pong man. very high priced clubs. will give you idea of what you should ask for yours. do not sell to pong man. the shock of a fifty dollar offer will have you on the floor requiring medical assistance. enjoy your down payment on car or house.
Question
Are there currently any decent types heavy putters out there made by PING?
Answered by MangaFreak
I actually don’t know. I have a PING putter myself, it’s a PING Anser 2. Btw wat do u actually mean by “heavy”? Do u mean the putter head or shaft?
Answered by green_lantern66
Look towards the Cra-Z, Wolverine… those bigger-headed models. From what I’ve experience, the similarly-shaped models, like the Zing and Anser, weigh relatively the same; they’re just different shapes.

If you want an Anser-styled head but significantly heavier, look at the Heavy Putter by Boccieri Golf.

Answered by Lawrie
The Boccieri Golf Heavy Putter is a great heavy putter. I have one from their mid range series (the K4) and it has a 300g weight in the shaft. The additional weight is not in the head of the putter.

I agree with the last two guys. There’s no way you can buy a putter knowing which one he’ll like.

I would buy him a golf lesson package instead. There’s nothing like getting better at golf.
