Question
I like to search on eBay for unique scotty cameron putters and wonder why some “new” ones do not include the headcover. Should I believe them to be factory irregular, fake, stolen, or what?
Answered by dmartin2214
I would think nothing about it…..there are never enough headcovers around. You can always find a putter cover—I would be more interested in the putter itself. Good luck.
Answered by c g +1
Most of these are stolen from retailers or directly from the manufacturer. No headcover is actually the tip off.
Answered by glfer212
im pretty sure it is illegal for a golf store or a pga professional to sell a new golf clubs on ebay at a discounted price…buying a SC on ebay id be a bit skeptical unless it was used…why would someone have a new SC and sell it for less then 299 without a head cover doesnt add up…ebay has a problem with counterfeit clubs….used items seem safer because the come with a story like….ive been playing with this scotty cameron but now im a super stud golfer and need a new one…so i would be very cautious about buying a new SC without a head cover
Answered by TEACHER
If you are purchasing them from an individual or shop, then they might be selling the cover separately or just holding on to it. Most times they will sell the headcover later for a few more bucks.
Question
Do new putters make a big diffrence vs old ones. I mean, getting a putter on ebay, that someone used not to much, it wont make a diffrence rather than buying it at a store, right?
Answered by Shamrock59
i dont really think it matters. as long as it isnt chipped or anything. pretty much just needs to have a flat surface
Answered by googie
Putting is a matter of confidence and feel. Any putter which “feels right” as to weight, balance and lie , whether new or used is the club one chooses.. Tiger has used the same putter for years. True , he has reshafted and probably regripped a couple of times. He is still one of the best putters on tour today.
Answered by obx_surf_lover
used putters are just as good if you ask me…go to the store and putt with them and see which ones feel good

It is just like any other club. You have to find one you like. It doesn’t matter if it is new or used.

Question
I am 5′ 9” and still growing. I saved money to buy a new Scotty Cameron putter but my dad says i should wait. I currently have a 33″ Ping G2 Anser that I don t like the feel of. I have tried a similar model of the putter I would purchase and I like it alot. Should I buy a 35″ now or wait until I stop growing and see what length I use then?
Answered by Jim N
You can always lengthen the shaft and change the lie angle of the putter, so how ever tall you grow you will be fine. If you really are that dissatisfied by your ping them I would suggest getting a new putter.
Answered by golfnut_05
The putter is the most important club in your bag…you have to be comfortable with it…or your scores will suffer. Most golf shops have a device that will measure the optimal length of putter for your posture and stroke. you should get fitted to know the best length for you.

If you want the scotty Cameron…go get it…you likely won’t be pleased with anything else if that’s what you have your heart set on. Besides…if it gets too short…you can always have it reshafted with a a longer shaft once you stop growing.

Good Luck Shopping…

Answered by cmacjr23
If you’re not comfortable with the 33″ putter, you probably should consider the 35″. Besides there is nothing wrong with having more than one putter, that way you have a choice if one isn’t going well for you.
Answered by Gotheprobe
I’d just buy it. I’ve bought so many putters over the years it’s not funny but I find sometimes you’ll go through a bad patch with a particular putter & using another one can get you out of that hole. So it’s not a bad thing having different options. I know a lot of that maybe just brain/confidence related but hey – you could argue 90% of golf is mental!
Go with what gives you confidence & if you’ve mentally given up on your current putter & lust after the Scotty Cameron then just do it…you’ll just find excuses to blame your old putter anyway until you’ve updated it.
Answered by Mouse
I don’t think you will know when you will stop growing so I suggest that if you really want that putter, purchase it and see how it goes.

Have a good one…

Question
I’m in the market for a new putter, but I don’t really want to spend that much money. I tried the odyssey 2 ball white hot xg and really liked it, but $ 170 really seemed like a lot of money. I’m currently using a no-name blade putter with no inserts or anything in it; I tend to hit the ball too hard so any putters with a softer insert would be really helpful.
Answered by Eddie Mix
I use the Nike putter
Answered by lolwtfpwnt92
i actually just tried that putter today
and let me say
it is absolutely amazing.

i dont think theres anything like it.

go to your local golf shop
pick a putter thats right for YOU and affordable.

im currently using a taylormade putter.
its has a “softish-medium” kind of contact with the ball.
its…125? or something like that.

Answered by TonsiL BoxeR
Well there’s nothing thats really going to compare or give you the same feel as an Odyssey putter. There’s a reason they’re $ 170; you get what you pay for. I play the Odyssey Marxman XG White Hot which is similar to the 2-Ball but has two white lines instead, this helps me be more confident in the line I’m aiming for.

If you want to find something cheaper you can go one of two ways…. Do you wanna spend only like $ 50 or less for a basic no name putter? Or do you just want wait until you can afford to drop $ 170 on an Odyssey? If you’re gonna spend $ 100+ on a putter I’d just spend the extra some odd amount and get the Odyssey. If around $ 50 sounds better to you than go with the off-brand.

Another thing you can do, and I would recommend, is to look on eBay.com and Craigslist.org and find either a ‘used’ Odyssey 2-Ball or another good name brand putter that may be just a few years old.

If you’d like to go with the cheap route, below are some links to cheaper mallet style putters with a softer face….

i work in a golf shop and we sell our used things on ebay so buying a putter on ebay isn’t a big deal as long as it is in good condition. however, the big issue is that you can’t know if it is real or not online. we’ve had people who come in and tell us that they bought it online and it ended up being fake. really you should check the price of the one you are going to buy online with the ones in the stores because if you’re going to save a hundred dollars it is worth it. However i know we take down are price significantly if people are buying something expensive. golf shops are flexible with their prices especially if you tell them you are going to take your business somewhere else. and the plus side of the shop is that you get to try it before you buy so that you know you are going to get the one you want.

A putter is the absolute most personal choice you will ever have in golf equipment…..you will love or hate it on various occasions…..If your heart is set on the Scotty…..then talk to your dad and convince him….length of the shaft can always be changed.

have extension put it shaft. cheapest way. 35 inchs is a long putter, stay at 33 or 34. never buy a new putter, used ones one third the price ,if not less than new. have a basement loaded with wedges ,putters all purchased this way. scotties are great for private courses, not to well wieghted for munies . best dollar value , used pings . used oddseys 15 to 50 bucks versus 250. with limited usage . good hunting. take note of the p g a tour , how many are returning to the classic blades. worth noting .
