Go to Golfsmith.com. These people are the most highly trained in the golf industry and will help you with everything you need.
Answered by Alexander D
It depends a lot on your swing analysis, go to a professional and ask for it. Golf smith has Golf TEC or look for a golf TEC store near you.
They have a Machine named VECTOR and can tell you even which ball will work better for you.
Answered by Pat B
You gave a lot of good info, except for how much do you want to spend? phatboy has it right, go to a golf shop with a swing monitor and pga trained pros to help you fit the right set for your swing AND your budget. Lots of good technology out there – and if your budget is tight (who’s isn’t these days) you can look at used clubs. Recommend tradergolf.com.
Good Luck.

Question
i am a beginner and i currently have a driver, 3 wood, 3 and 4 hybrids, 5-9 irons, pw, sw, lw, and a putter. that makes 13 clubs and i am wondering what i should add to complete the 14 club set. i have been getting pretty good with my wedges so i was considering a gap wedge but i am just a beginner and i dont exactly know what is best.
Answered by Molly S
Get a dirt wedge.
Answered by Riptide
If you’re just beginning, you won’t notice a difference by adding any clubs. Save your dough and replace whatever club you use most with something better. One of the greatest additions can be a new driver, shaft for your driver, or a better wedge.

I’m a big fan of bob vokey wedges so I recommend you grab yourself one of those and replace whatever wedge you use most. They’re relatively cheap compared to other clubs (not wedges) and are a great addition to your short game.

i have a chipper. like its actually called a chipper…
Answered by Ryan G
I would say either a chipper. (great for a beginner golfer) or a better driver if yours is not up to par.
Answered by Jason G
What I would do is either add a 2 hybrid or 5 wood(similar lofts) and a gap wedge and lose the lob wedge. If you hit your lob wedge well then keep it. Most mid-high handicappers don’t hit lob wedge well. I adjust my swing to hit sand wedge higher or lower so I don’t use a lob wedge.
Question
I’m 13, and a pretty avid golfer. My best score was 88. And i got that last monday. My hybrids were just awesome had the right distance and height coming from the rough. Now i hit my clubs with a divot. And they either run a couple yds. Or just pop into the air off onto the right. My wrist has started hurting. (i’m right handed, right wrist hurts) i’m starting to hit behind the ball now. And as i swing i feel like my wrist just stops and then i make a divot. Stupid wrist!! My coach, dear god, i freakin love him like family. And i always want to do my best for him. He decided for me to play with V (a college golfer who’s like an adopted daughter to him. They’re super close) Now she and i played on thursday and friday. And i’m not used to playing with other ppl besides my golf buddies and family. I got 100 and 99. Terrible. Before i played on thursday, i rushed to thee driving range. Coach said my tempo and rhythm was off. It was like i’ve never played before. And yah know i thought it was just nerves. Then i played with my dad and bro on sat and sunday. I got 96 and 98. Idk whats up!! On monday i practiced for an hour and a half before playing. I hit the driving range and chipped at putt at the chipping range. Lately i haven’t been practicing at the driving range. Or chipping. My swing seems off. My drive’s are pretry good. But i’m lacking in my woods, hybrids, and irons sadly. I’ve lost like almost 20 yds off most of them. Ohh and my coach and dad were bragging to ppl about me getting 88. I feel pressured to live up to ppl’s expectations. I have ppl giving me good luck and rooting me on. I don’t want to disappoint myself or others. Its gotten to me. Help!!

I recently got into golf too my hands hurt like hell and they will until you start building the muscles that have never really been used before. Before you go out and play take tylenol or something and stop worrying about yardage just worry about making contact with the ball. Everyone has bad slumps you just need to take it easier so when you go to the driving range or wherever just focus on making contact with the ball and always keep your head down.
Answered by canadianslice19
Sounds like A) Nerves are kicking in B) You are over thinking your swing.

Your pro should be able to fix you up, and if you are golfing with a college golfer you should be able to get her to help with your swing.

How is your tempo and weight transfer in your swing. Also, you may be attacking the ball too steep, instead of an arc. Or, the ball may be too far forward in your stance.

Youtube is great for drills too.

Could be you’re hitting puberty and things will be pretty uncoordinated for a while.

Question
I’m 13 and i’m 5-10 and i am a 16 HCP i plan on playing high school golf and I’m currently playing Adams GT Tight Lies Mid Flex ( 4-LW) no Hybrid sets I need to lower my HCP to a 4 in 3 years what set of irons will help me. P.S i’m taking lessons with the best pro in the area

i am ironman
Answered by wbaker777
Honestly, your handicap is based on your performance…..Not on the clubs. Get your swing down right and practice and your handicap will drop. Concentrate on short game from 100 yds into the green and putting. that is where most beginners lose the most strokes at.
Answered by Carmelo4514
dude its not the clubs its the swing, also if you really want new clubs nobody can pick the ones right for you except yourself, i dont know if you need forged irons, or graphite shafts, it comes down to what you like
Answered by Shaun B
The irons are not the only problem. Swing is where you want to concentrate. You could be holding the clubs the Tiger plays with but it doesn’t help if you can’t swing pure. If you are set on finding a new set of irons at a 16 HC then I would not even look at any blades or anything close yet. If you have the patience to work with yourself look at players clubs. They are not as shaping as blades but not as forgiving as game improvement clubs. They will still provide enough feedback for a mid HC to know that they are not on track with the swing. For a list of the best players clubs look here:

http://www.golfdigest.com/equipment/ratings/irons/2008/hotlistirons_pi

If you still want the forgiveness of your clubs look at game improvement clubs look here:

http://www.golfdigest.com/equipment/ratings/irons/2008/hotlistirons_gi

though at a 16 I don’t think that they will be too needed.

the only differece between them is

Blades: maximum workability with little forgiveness. No cavity thin sole
Players: smaller head, somewhat forgiving and somewhat workable and a somewhat narrow sole
Game Improvement: deep cavity, very forgiving and not so workable. there just to help you get the game and do it with help
super game improvement: deep deep cavity and very wide sole. just starting out.

the next thing you want to look into is getting fitted for clubs. a fitting will help choose the best clubs for your swing rate and accuracy on ball to face contact. Happy swinging

You got a lot of good answers. Here is a thought that is important and often overlooked. You need to like the way they look at address, and the way they feel. Of course they must fit your budget. Now after you go look, swing and hit a few in a golf shop, go to tgw.com. I have ordered several sets from them and they are a great company to deal with. The last set of irons I ordered at 1:30pm on Monday and Wednesday around the same time they were at my door. Good luck.

New Inferno PETITE Complete Lady Golf Club Set with Stand Bag for ladies and for men :Inferno Titanium Complete Men’s Golf Club Set with Bag cost about $ 79.99.
Designed for new golfers this package includes all the clubs needed to start playing and enjoy the game. This package is an excellent choice for players looking for their first set or looking to move up from “hand-me-down” clubs.

  4. Jason G says:

You should try out a lot of different products and find what feels good to you. I’m a Nike guy through and through so I would recommend only Nike products. Here’s what I play:

    Driver- Nike SQ Sumo 5000
    3 wood- Nike SQ2
    Nike CPR Hybrid(18*)
    Nike CPR3 Hybrid(21*)
    Irons- Nike Pro Combo 4-SW
    Nike Forged Wedge 53*
    Putter- Nike Blue Chip Mallet

I am seriously considering getting the new Victory Red Split Cavity irons. They are so sweet looking. I haven’t made up my mind yet. I’m also considering getting a 4 hybrid; Nike SQ Sumo Hybrid. You really should just demo a bunch of equipment and see what feels good to you.

  5. wbaker777 says:

You just need to do your own homework on this……Nobody can tell you which clubs feel the best to you….or which ones you hit the best. Its a personal choice….nothing more….nothing less!

  6. the iceman says:

I agree that you probably need to go to a golf store and check it out for yourself. Try going somewhere that you can actually try the clubs out. One thing I would suggest is get at least one hybrid. For most everyone that isn’t on the pro tour (and even some that are), hybrids are a must.

  7. golf_guy4 says:

well, its really whatever you like so u gotta try different clubs out. also are you considering price? but anyway i tell you some good clubs
    Driver: Taylormade r7
    3 Wood: Taylormade Burner
Hyrbirds: Taylormade Rescue 2 hybrid/Adams Idea 3 hybrid
    Irons: Callaway X 20 irons 4 iron- P wedge
Wedges: Cleveland 54 degree wedge, 58 degree wedge
    Putter: Odyssey White Hot

  8. Ernest B says:

This is not the answer you are probably looking for, but considering you are a beginner I would add no clubs and probably suggest you remove a few for the time being. This is not because you don’t know how to use the ones you got, but rather learning to play different types of shots with the same club will provide life long benefit. For instance, the sand wedge can create a very high soft shot simply by opening the face and executing a flop type shot. Or, take a seven iron and play a knock down shot (lower ball flight) to your eight iron distance. This way when trouble or wind come into play you will be prepared, not from the driving range but rather the creativity inspired by the absence of specialty clubs. Look at Tiger or Phil, creativity is an understatement with these two, you would be surprised to hear how they learned.

Just a thought, but if you are dead set on a new club, a Yokey wedge is hard to beat.

  9. Amanda C says:

here is a set of clubs for beginners, you can take a look.maybe they will help you.

  10. mannyq says:

I love my TM R7 irons and have played with TM clubs for years. But you have to look for irons that fit you and your golf swing.

What’s wrong with your current irons? Start with that and talk to your pro about what you’d want in a new set, and try to hit some at your local golf shop to find ones you’d like.

If you’re looking to get to a 4, look for some in the game improvement category. Look at golfdigest hot list for the best game improvement irons.

  11. Allenby says:
