i’m thinking a 12 degree is a 3 or 4 hybrid. a hybrid is basically an iron with a deep sole and a curved face. hybrids are easier for beginners to hit because they have a higher forgiveness than irons. Hybrids are used for long low shots. they don’t generate alot of spin which is bad for an advance player trying to hit a green. Hybrids are also easier to hit from the rough.

A hybrid with that amount of loft would probably replace a 4-iron and it could either be used whenever 4-irons are used. They don’t produce as much backspin, but the extra stability created by the head allows the club to power through rough, so hybrids are often used as rescue clubs.
I use mine for my 2nd shot on a long par 5, off the tee of a par 3, or if I am in the rough and the green is over 160 yards away.

A hybrid replaces an iron. It would be appropriate for shots that would normally be tough to hit with an iron, or if you need to hit the ball a certain amount of yards. I have 2 hybrids, and love playing both of them. My 5-iron hybrid is my favorite club in my bag.

a 15 degree FAIRWAY WOOD would be a three wood a 15 degree HYBRID would be a 1 hybrid

It kind of depends on the head shape. If it’s narrow and not so wide (like an Adams Idea Pro) it’s more like a one or two iron. If the clubhead is larger (like a Taylormade Burner) it’ll play more like a fairway wood. Keep in mind, the hybrid will have a shorter shaft than a standard fairway wood- you’d lose some distance, but you’ll gain some control.

Green Lantern is correct. The 15* is a three-wood equivalent for loft, but as with all hybrids, it will have a shorter, easier to control shaft length and therefore will most likely be easier to hit but should not go as far as a regulation 3 wood. If you hit a regular 3 wood 230 yards, a similarly lofted hybrid shoulod go about 215 or so. However, you should be more consistent with it as well as straighter.

I’m not sure. In situations like that, one typically uses the trusted foot wedge. If you’re not playing in a tournament, use whatever club you want.

I love the hybrid golf clubs. I bought my first one a few years ago. An 18 degree Nike CPR2. After that I bought the 21 degree and 24 degree. I love all three and hit well with each one. The problem is I stink with a driver. I don’t really have the time or desire to practice with a driver, so I’m sticking with the hybrids off the tee. I know Nike makes a 15 degree hybrid, but does anyone make one with a lower loft angle to mimic a driver. A hybrid driver? Does it exist or are there any plans for one?

I do not know for sure but i would not think so because 15 degrees is a 3 wood. The driver can have a loft of like a 8 to 13 degree so i don’t think they would make a club under 15 degrees if it was not a driver. But if you hit your hybrids good of the tee stick to them and hit them straight.

Don’t know the model, but I have a 13 degree Taylor Made rescue club that is money for me. I believe it was the first rescue they came out with as I’ve had it for three seasons. It is super-easy to hit in the air from any lie and I can work it any way I need to. Much like a long iron…probably easier to hit, that’s why you like them. Check it out. I like it more than any 3-wood I’ve ever had and it goes just as far, especially from the fairway on those tempting Par 5s.
Another thing you can try…Take your extra driver or buy a nice used one. Cut it down to the length of your three-wood or your longest hybrid. This messes with the technology and mechanics of the driver a bit, but I bet if you take it to the range, you can master it. I tried it so I could hit it from the fairway when I needed more distance than my 13 degree hybrid could give me, but couldn’t get it. Love that 13 degree.
