Im looking on the internet and I see all this stuff about Hybrid golf Clubs.
What are they and what is there use?

They combine the features of fairway woods and long irons.
Long irons are generally harder to hit, so the hybrid club came about. Hybrid clubs also play to about the same length as their respective iron #. For instance a #3 hybrid has a shaft length about the same length as a #3 iron.
So, to sum it up.. its a smaller headed fairway wood, with a shorter shaft.

It’s a crossover between a fairway wood and an iron. They generally replace the 2i, 3i, 4i, sometimes the 5i and in rare sets replace 6i. A 4 hybrid is about the equivelant of a 7 wood. The shaft is more like a wood but, the head is only about half as big.
Personally, I find it a little easier to hit in the fairways than a fairway wood. And I like it better for tee shots as apposed to using an iron on short holes where I’d use a 4i or 5i to tee off.

Hybrid is a combination of fairway wood and long iron. No more 3 or 4-iron for me.
One thing I really like about hybrids is that they’re so much better at getting out of the rough. I’ve hit 200+ yards out of the rough using a hybrid. Before with an iron it was once in a blue moon I’d make shots like that.

By definition, it is a “cross” or a “fusion” of two different items, in this case a metal-wood and an iron. Each manufacturer’s hybrids are slightly different, but basically they look like small woods or very fat irons. The shafts are shorter than a comparable wood and slightly longer than a comparable iron. The heads have a lower center of gravity, making it easier for shots to get airborne. I have seen some pros using them. I recently bought strong 3 and 5 hybrids and have found the results interesting. I find it easier to achieve a good strike than with comparable irons but I fail to achieve the same length as I would with a 3 or 5 wood because of the shorter length of the shaft, but I am straighter. I find they are also good for chipping from the fairway and light rough as long as there is nothing between me and the flag. They are great for getting out of the rough.

I have seen some pros use them. Don’t forget, hybrids were created for those of us who cannot hit long irons and cannot really hit fairway woods. The pros are Pros because generally they can do both. So its not as necessary for them to use one.
I have seen it more on the LPGA and Champions tour and some on the Nationwide Tour, than the PGA Tour. Probably because the PGA Tour guys who you see on TV are generally longer hitters, and dont need to use them.

You must not watch much golf. Pro golfers use them as much as amateurs do. Not all pro golfers use them, but more do than don’t.

As I am shopping around I am seeing things like “Hybrid irons” and “Hybrid woods” and such. Then there are sets that are not hybrid. Is there a difference? An advantage?

a hybrid is a mixture or fusion of a iron and a wood. some look more like woods while some look more like irons. they are ment to replace the harder clubs to hit such as 1-4 irons. they are much easier to hit and much more forgiving then the typical 3 iron. i have one (a hybrid iron ) a 19 degree that replaces my 2 iron and its a great club. they are really easy to hit out of tough situations such as heavier rough.

hybrids are a substitute for a long iron like a 4 or 5 and they are easy to hit and go far, i think they are worth getting one

a hybrid iron helps you have better shots. if you have trouble getting the ball in the air, the hybrids help that very much. it will also give you a little more distance. i like hybrids for the harder irons to hit such as the 3 iron or sometimes the 4 iron

hybrids are easier to hit then irons or even fairway irons. I use a 21 degree rescue mid by Taylor made. I use it because i can’t hit a 3 iron. Now i can easily hit my rescue club 200-210 yards. Definitely recommended.

Hybrid golf clubs are the alternative to long irons. Hybrids replace anything from a 1 iron to a 5 iron. Most amateurs have difficulty hitting long irons. I have a hybrid club that replaced my 2 iron. Love it. I plan on getting another one to replace my 3 iron. You can hit them high and they land softly. Can’t necessarily do that with a long iron unless you got the game.

A hybrid club is an easier to hit alternative to long irons(2-3-4 irons). They have a bigger hitting area than the irons and they are easier to square at impact. Many people have trouble squaring the longer irons at impact as opposed to the shorter irons 7-pitching wedge. There are companies that make hybrid sets as well as regular sets. A typical “regular set consists of irons 3 thru pitching wedge. A hybrid set has a 21 degree club that replaces the 3 iron and a 24 degree club that replaces the 4 iron. Then the irons start from 5 thru pitching wedge. I have replaced my 2 iron with an 18 degree hybrid club. You can also replace an 18 degree fairway wood with a hybrid wood if you so choose. It comes down to personal preference. If you are a beginner, I would go for a hybrid club. Golf can be frustrating so you want all the advantage you can get.
