give the new odyssey marksman white hot XL a look…they will have both versions of that (mallet, blade) at your larger local golf retailer…good luck
Question
I choke up on my putter about 2.5 inches and my putter is 34 inches long should I have it cut down to feel more comfortable or would that mess up the weight of the club, or stick with it. I am a good putter, but I don’t really like the putter that I use. It’s a Odyssey Marksman Mallet putter the on with the big line on it.
Answered by unoriginalnamecreator
Altering the length does change the balance and swing weight, so if you do ok with it the way it is, I wouldnt suggest a change. Since you don’t like it, however, go to somewhere like Golfsmith, or Golf Galaxy, not D i c k s (not enough variety) that has many different types and lengths and hit as many of them as you can until you find the one that works best for you. Picking a putter is one of the most subjective choices out of all of your clubs.

Any change in shaft length will affect the overall swingweight. If in fact you don’t like your present putter…..I’d advise looking to replace it with something you do like. A putter is the most personal feeling you can have in a club so try out as many as you can before making your choice.

I say around 32, if u have it a bit smaller you will get better control and feel.

Your putter length depends upon your stature when you putt( whether you prefer to stand tall like Raymond Floyd or stoop like Jack Nicklaus) . If the shaft doesn’t get in the way of your putting stroke, keep the present length. If you don’t like your putter try something different. Just remember one thing. The tool is usually OK. The mechanic is often wrong.
