Question
I’m a 36 handicapper, i fit ladies irons, so I’d probably get a ladies driver but I’m not sure what driver to get. I could use some help, I have mizuno irons so I would like to get a mizuno driver unless there would be another make that would suit me better. I currently hit around 180 yards if that helps.
Answered by crazy_freeskier_360
i would recomend not spending alot of money if you are a 36 handicap getting an expensive driver is not going to lower your handicap. spend under $ 100 on the driver and get lessons
look at www.rockbottomgolf.com they have good deals

Try getting a Diablo. Those clubs are fantastic!
Answered by buff j
the amount of difference the clubs will make is so small that it’s a complete waste of money to buy top of the line clubs. just look for a driver with a big head.
Answered by RobNSilver
go to a store like golf galaxy or golf smith or one like it an they let you hit any driver they carry. They can also look an see what loft is good for you an all that good stuff.
Answered by hutch
the mizuno mx560 driver is really good and easy to hit its a few years old now so you can pick one up really cheap
Question
Are all drivers about the same for a player with a slow swing speed? Does anyone with a slow swing/ball speed used the following drivers with good results?
Nickent 4DX
TaylorMade Burner
Mizuno MX 700

On this matter, there are a lot of things that can help you. Is not any one club. Is a combination of things. The shaft makes the most differences. For slow speed you should have a softer shaft with a low kick point. On your club head, you can have an offset or a close face to help with a slower swing speed. Is a combination of things. Go demo them all.
Answered by Logan
I think you should focus more on the ball. Because if you have a golf ball that should be for 105mph swing speed your not gonna get as much distance as you usually would, but if you have a ball for a 70mph your going to get maximum distance! How fast is your swing speed? If its about 70mph try a srixon trispeed.
But thats kinda off the subject! lol any of those except taylormade

dvz gave you the correct answer.
I assume you are a beginner but some how know your swing speed.
If that is the case and money matters buy any inexpensive club with a n R or a senior shaft Change when you get stronger or faster.
Why only the driver ?

It’s personal preference… Check out www.golfdigest.com for complete and thorough reviews on all the new golf equipment. Personally, I would go with either Taylormade Burner TP or Ping Rapture V2.

No such thing as the best. It all depends on whether the club suits the person.

Question
I have been playing golf sporadically for several years now and am starting to really enjoy it again. I am currently not good enough for a handicap and can get round my local municipal course in circa 100 – 105 shots. I currently only use irons (up to 4 as I have no control with my 3 iron) and seem to have relatively good control. I feel ready to try a driver again, but am unsure what to buy. I once bought a graphite shaft Mizuno driver but I have never consistently hit more than 1 half decent shot per round with it – hence my current reliance on irons.
Should I continue only with irons, try out a steel shaft driver (if so what should I buy?), or revert back to the Mizuno?
Thanks
James

keep at it with your mizuno , its quite a fancy brand . Spend a lil time at the range . Try a hybrid out u may like them . If you shoot 100-105 , dedicate more practice to chipping and putting . Thats where you will see you scores go lower !
Answered by old pro
James it is often said that the driver should be the easiest club in the bag to hit because you get to tee it up. By the sounds of things you seem to have some trouble with less lofted clubs so you have trouble with your three iron. To help you out get a driver that has some loft on it like an 11 or 12 degree. You will also find it easier to hit if you tee it high to increase your launch angle and reduce side spin. Take your Mizuno out and try to tee it high and let it fly. Good luck with the game.

Alot depends on how your driver is spec’d out. Do you have the right shaft for your swing speed and the right loft for your swing. It’s hard to tell exactly whats wrong without knowing your misses and where they end up. I know, my driver is my toughest club to stay consistent with……when I’m on, it’s 285-290 consistently down the middle with a 5-10 yard draw…..when it’s off, anywhere from 230-240, big, high floater to the right or a snap hook. When I’m driving the best, it’s after I’ve spent a couple of days on the range with it. Try one simple test. Tee up a ball and set up for your practice swing. Take 3 or 4 practice swings and pay attention to where the bottom of your swing arc is, then set up to the ball that way. Do this at the range until it becomes second nature. Even if you don’t cure all of your driving problems, you’ll help eliminate at least one variable…..best of luck to you!

You need to get the opinion and help of a PGA qualified professional to help your game and your decision. At the Pro Shop at your local golf club or driving range, the owner/proprietor will probably be one. Get him to assess the level of your game and the style of your swing, and he will either reccomend a steel shaft club, another graphite shaft (graphite is for accuracy, more, and steel for distance.), a half-set (with 3 and 5 woods), or sticking with your Mizuno. Your handicap is probably around the 36 mark, the same as me, so just get in plenty of practice, and when you feel you’re ready, do a few cards for your proper handicap! (At 36 handicap, a par 72 course should be hit at 108 shots). Good luck and have fun! Do not be afraidof your 3-iron; get in plenty of practice and it’ll come. I reccomend the book mentioned below for every aspect of golf, including purchasing equipment.

Cobra SS or SZ. They come in different sizes such as 350, 400, 427, 460cc. I know this driver is years older, however it is an extremely forgiving club to hit. I use one and hit further and straighter than my golf mates do who use new technology. When they’ve tried my drivers they were suprised at the distance they could get from it. You can pick up a used one for approximately $ 30 on E-bay. Definitely a big bang for the dollar. Check out peeps unbiased reviews on golfreview.com.

On the PGA Tour it is not but if it works for you then it is the best driver. The #1 driver on tour is the Taylormade R9. I personally use the 2007 Nike SUMO and it is perfect for me. It is long and straight. So your driver is perfect for you if it works.
why not try the TaylorMade Burner Superfast Driver?
you might like it .
