Question
I’m 5’6″, been playing for years but want better clubs, don’t want to spend more than a few hundred for a good, used set, just the irons. I think I”m looking for orange dot.
Answered by Lenny
My friend I’m glad you asked!! I picked up a set of Zing 2 irons off a guy who was mad and wanted to get rid of them in 99′. I bought them for 100 and they were still fairly new. I have replaced them with Ping Eye 2s, Taylormade 09 burners, Bridgestone J33 combo, and even callaway x 20 irons. I have always come back to these. Some don’t like the shape or say they look like a shovel. I could care less what they look like I’m more concerned with the look of the shot. They are forgiving, but they also allow me to shape a shot. My natural shot is a draw, but I can hit a high fade with these as well. I have no complaints and have wasted over 1500 dollars trying to replace them. They are fairly cheap on ebay and you can usually find a set at Edwin Watts or Golfsmith. I am an 11 handicap and until I am under a 7 I will play these. Probably afterwards too.

It is all about personal preference and your own unique swing dynamics. Ping have one of the most recognised club fitting systems in the world of golf and you already seem to know the answer to your own question. It is about what works best for you not someone else.

I bought my set of Pings in the 60′s and I am still using them. I paid $ 33.00 for each iron (2-SW) and $ 43.00 for each wood (1-4). Took my pay check from my fathers business to the Pro shop at the Country Club every weekend and paid for the club over the summer and fall. I was working for $ .75 cents an hour sweeping the floor and such at my dads warehouse (I was 8-9 years old).

Not too old….Zing 2 debut around 1994, I call that old as far as clubs go, but still a respected club, forgiving as well as shot shaping. Many hang on to them.

Something newer? G10 Game improvement, maximum forgiveness.

Make sure you go to the Official Ping site www.ping.com click on “custom fitting” and follow prompts for accurate measurements and fittings to ensure you are a “orange dot”. After verifying your color scheme head to eBay, select sports..golf…clubs….iron sets…Ping and find your new used clubs. Pay attention to seller reviews and look for very good or excellent condition. Good Luck.

I have played Ping Rapture, G15, G10, G5 and G2.

Question

Lie angle is right. Determined from your stance
Answered by Amily
Each Ping iron has a dot color. Ping irons customize the golf club to the golfer. Traditionally, a golfer would buy a set of golf clubs and attempt to change his swing to accommodate the new clubs. Golf is a difficult game, and attempting to fit your swing to new clubs makes it even harder. Ping clubs are custom-fitted for you.
The Ping color system is based on the angle of the shaft when the sole (bottom) of the club is level against the ground. Due to different swings, body types, heights and a number of factors, golfers need different shaft angles for their set of clubs.

black dot – base
blue dot – are .75 degree more upright than black
followed by yellow, green, white etc.

I hope it helps :)

Question
On the back of the G5 clubs, there is a small badge which has the G5 logo on. I’ve noticed that some have a small USA logo above the G5 and wondered if these were a different spec or just for the US market!
Answered by rberrido
Ping is the ONLY golf brand that manufactures al of its equipment inside USA. All the other brands are some mede in China completly, some are asembled in USA. In 2007 the golf equipment market was hit hard by counterfeit equipment. They all came from China. Ping was the toughest clubs to counterfeit because it was made 100% in the USA, but they did made a couple of low quality clubs in China. Ping decided to play a little bit with the design of the G5 by placing a small USA logo on the back just to make it a little bit more dificult to clone, copy or counterfeit.

those with tourette’s syndrome

Either a short player (5’7″ or shorter) or a person that strikes the ball with LOW hands. The orange dot is about 2.5 degrees flat.
Answered by Ray J
To be sure you can check out pings website and their is a test you can take and it tells you what color is best. ( I’m a blue dot )
Question
i want to buy some new ping i10 clubs, but i’m not sure which dot to get and i’d like to get fitted for these clubs….any ideas?
Answered by c g +1
Stay away from the internet sites you have never heard of, they are most likely counterfeit. Go to pinggolf.com, they have a link to your local authorized Ping retailers, and a fitting is always no charge. Once you get fitted, there is not much reason to shop around for pricing because Ping exerts very tight controls on their products and the retailers will not offer deals for fear of losing their Ping accounts
Answered by PATRICK N
Grab a tape measure and go to Pings web site. They have a self fitting page that will let you know exactly which lie (dot color) is best for you.
