Is it illegal in golf to carry two drivers in your bag, even though you abide by the 14 club rule?
Question
i carry two drivers in my bag. i just want to know if it’s legal.
Answered by googie
There is no limitation on the type of club to be carried but all clubs have to meet USGA standards and there can be no more than 14. So a person can carry as may drivers or wedges if they arewithin the total.
Answered by Deano7275
Nope, perfectly legal. Phil Mickelson won the Masters a few years back carrying two drivers, one set up for a draw ball flight, and one set up standard or for a slight fade.

Personnaly, I like having four wedges in my bag, so two drivers isnt gonna work out.

Answered by Chris D
You are allowed to carry whatever set of clubs in your bag but you must not carry more than 14 clubs. Two drivers are perfectly legal so go ahead.
Answered by cdc
Ya its legal. Some people carry two putters in their bags. And, if you remember, Phil Mickleson carried a fade and a draw driver in his bag for a little bit…
Answered by Richard Gao
No. You can carry 14 drivers and nothing else in your bag if you so choose. Don’t know if it’d help your score though.

Phil carried two drivers in one of his tournament in 2007.

Most tour pros have several clubs that they take or leave based on the course and playing condition for that day.

Question
My friends and I have been playing on the weekends for a while now and since I dont plan on playing in USGA events I might as well try some of the new illegal technology thats out there. Though, it is hard to find reviews on some of these illegal clubs. So is there any one that could recommend some equipment to me such as Drivers, Wedges, Balls, Tees. Any reviews would be much appreciated.
Answered by Charles
dont try to cheat, get legitimate equipment and go out and compete, once you get good then you can feel accomplished whereas if you cheat and play good you get to go home and feel inadequate.
Answered by Lawrie
I would really recommend that you use complying equipment. I know if you are playing casual golf only it probably doesn’t mean a lot, but if and when you decide to join a club, or take part in any club-run tournaments you can play with a clear conscience.

You will never leave yourself open to accusations of cheating if you use the right gear.

Answered by Gravity 4 Me
Drivers (cor) and wedges (grooves) are the popular non conforming clubs. Most people with golfing integrity try to avoid them not acquire them!
Question
There are some advertisements from companies such as Bandit or Desperado about illegal golf balls with longer distance. Does anyone have experience with these to see if they do provide long distance off the tee with a driver? Thanks
Answered by Mellida Adam
yes,i think it is legal.
Answered by Michael H
Yes – although why would you want to use them.
If you are a good golfer, who takes part in any sort of competitive golf (right down to the monthly stapleford at your club or a £5 bet with your mates in a weekend fourball), then using these balls is cheating. It is cheating in just the same way as declaring the wrong score, improving your lie, or breaking any of the other rules of golf.
If you are a recreational golfer, then they will just allow you to hit the ball further in the wrong direction.
Question
im looking for the driver with the highest cor out there i know that 860 cor is out there but is ther any drivers out there with a higher cor i need the name of them. thanks
Answered by pczelda
I don’t have an answer, but I know a few interesting things about golf that you may find interest in.

1) How golf got its name: GOLF stands for Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden. Of course that male-only priviledge has recently changed to include women.

2) In Japan, if you score a hole-in-one, you have to have hole-in-one insurance. The Japanese consider that if you have been fortunate enough to score a h.i.o., then you need to spread that fortune with others. If you don’t have the insurance you could have to pay a lot of money, like a million dollars.

Answered by b_dub253
First off, the largest a driver can be is 460cc. Secondly, everything that girl said is UNTRUE. Golf does NOT stand for anything, it is an Americanized version of the word “Goff”, which is Scottish for the same game, where it was invented. There is no such thing as hole in one insurance, and it would be ridiculous to have such a thing. Only 1 in 30,000 golfers will ever get that elusive ace, and there is not, nor will there ever will be a community that punishes a person for accomplishing one of sport’s most amazing feats.
Answered by Ohio_Golfer34
Well the USGA limit on clubhead size is 460 cc’s….so if you see anything bigger than that it would be illegal.
Question
I have just ordered a new golf driver:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004FI10QG/

This has the line “Oversized dimensions falling just within the new regulations”.

However, I have since discovered there are two versions of this driver. One which does not conform to regulations, and a newer one that does.

This is the non-conforming one (by same seller I bought mine through on Amazon:
http://www.thesportshq.com/forgan-series-2-square-driver.aspx (it states at the bottom does not meet regs)
The conforming one:
http://www.forgan.co.uk/forgan-series-2-square-driver1.aspx (has the statement “now meets regulations”)

How can I easily determine whether the one I have ordered on Amazon is the conforming one? I suspect from the price it is the illegal one, but how would I know for sure? I have sent an email to the seller asking them to clarify which one I have ordered and to cancel my order if it is the non-conforming one (as it would be not as described on Amazon when it says “Oversized dimensions falling just within the new regulations”)

The R&S who rule on conforming/non-conforming equipment maintain a list of legal and illegal drivers on their website – this driver shows up on neither lists (although the Forgan F1 and F3 are conforming).

Answered by green_lantern66
If it’s not on “the list”, you should be OK. The R&A is a little slow on things related to equipment. It’s possible the design was technically illegal when it was first released. In 2006, the USGA initiated the MOI Rule, stating that no driver could have an MOI (its ability to resist twisting on off-center hits) higher than 5,900 g*cm2. Depending on when it was released, it could’ve went from nonconforming to conforming within a couple of months.
Answered by Jonathan Basile
looking at the pictures from 2 websites it is impossible to tell the difference. The only thing i can think of is to email the R & A asking them about this driver and why it is not on either of their conforming/non-conforming lists. Also email Forgan themselves with a link to the picture on amazon.

In my opinion, it is always better to pay a little extra for something you know is the real deal

If you have the desire to be a driver, then you have to learn to drive first and take professional lessons.

To start learning to drive, you have to ensure and prepare few things. Firstly, before you can legally drive your car on public roads, you need to be 17 years, which is the minimum age in UK. If you are under 17, you can start learning only on private land and the sites must be gated and remote from public highways. In addition, it is worthwhile to check your eyesight and ensure you can read a car number plate at a certain distance. Secondly, You should have a valid provisional license before you take your fist driving lessons. You can apply for it online, or fill a D1 form at the post office and send it to the relevant departments. Thirdly, as a driver learner, you have to display “L” plates which should conform to a legal specification in a obviously visible place of the vehicle .What’s more, you can start some essential reading, like the Highway Code. It is also wise to start practicing your driving theory and hazard perception. Because it can help you to boost your skills and improve the chance of passing driving tests. Lastly, you should know what to look for when choosing a driver education program. As a future driver, the first thing u should do is go to the driving school. Choosing a fully qualified instructor is always helpful. And then your instructor will estimate how long you may need after the first lesson. Don’t suppose the cheapest lessons are the best. You should focus on getting the most out of your driving lessons and giving great value to your money.

Passing the driving test can be easy when you get ready technically and mentally. Theory and hazard perception tests come first. Then comes the practical test. Once you have passed the driving test, you are allowed to drive on you own and enjoy the experience of being you own driver.

  1. Flatstick says:

Perfectly legal. You could carry 14 drivers if you wanted as long as you don’t have more than 14 clubs. Mickelson carried two drivers at the Masters a couple years ago. I don’t see the logic in it, but it’s OK with the rules.

  2. salmonbellies16 says:

sure is . if you dont exceed the 14 club limit . if it works stay with it . i am old guy , with todays irons and strong lofts , carry 5 wedges . whatever works for you perfect .

  3. Juan says:

    No, it is not illegal.
In fact Phil Mickelson did that at one tournament, I believe he dominated that tournament also.

  4. ixnaytim says:

Perfectly legal. I carry four wedges three woods and 7 irons 4-9. and a putter. It’s all preference.

  5. Patrick M says:

yes its legal as long as you stick to the 14 club rule

  6. Jason G says:

You can carry as many as you want if you’re just playing recreationally. In an actual tournament, you can only have 14. If you want to carry 2 drivers, that’s fine. Phil Mickelson has done it on the PGA Tour.

  7. Eddie Mix says:

you could carry as many clubs as you like

  8. Molly says:

Its not illegal. But seriously… you dont need to have 2 in my opinion. One is hard enough to get used to. Plus you only will use a driver lets say 14 times a round max?

  9. Alex says:

dont b a cheat, why dont u buy a 52 inch golf driver and try smash that
