How many gifts should I get my one and a half year old for christmas?

Question
I was just wondering how many gifts i should get her for christmas. Her birthday was a few months ago and I agree that I went over board. Just for an idea, we literally opened gifts for an hour, and after i relized how ridiculous it was, I got all the kids to pitch in and help open them. So im wondering how many for christmas?

Get her a few fun gifts to open. Let her open one and really play with it before opening another one. She’s so little she won’t be counting everyone else’s presents to make sure you love her as much as you love the others. It won’t matter how many there are, as long as she has fun with the ones she opens.

One family I know opens the gifts one at a time, going around the room. The youngest opens a gift, then the next oldest, next, and so on until it comes around to the youngest again. By that time, the youngest has had time to play with what she opened and is ready for another one.

I have a daughter who turned 1 on october 5th, 2011 and I got her 31 presents. Got her a potty chair and training pants cause shes gonna need them soon anyways then I got her all the 12+ toys and 12-36 mo toys i could find and will then be donating her under 12mo toys to charities and replace them with her christmas presents after they are opened. My 6 year old son also got 31 presents and his toys that are still in great condition will be donated as well

Question
My son is 3yrs old and I want him to have a good christmas I always did as a child! But I don’t want to go overboard with gifts!! So my question is this how many gifts should I buy for him without going overboard?
Answered by They Call Me Leigh
uhm well it varies so i’m thinking
5 isn’t enough so..
i’m thinking 7-10 gifts should be great then he’ll have plenty to play with

Quality weighs more than quantity but you can go overboard that way too by getting things that are too expensive or above his age level.

At age 3, he’s probably going to get so many gifts from relatives that he won’t know how many you’re giving him – or care or even think about it, so long as what you do give him are things that you know he will love to play with.

Don’t set the bar so high that you’re trying each year constantly to do more; it will set you up for financial ruin and a child who feels entitled and might become materialistically manipulative.

Give him 3 or 4 good quality age-appropriate toys, maybe one of which is a little up-scale, but be sure they’re things he’ll like. He will NOT at his age focus on the quantity or the price range; he’ll focus on the fun and wow factor.

Instead of focusing on the number of gifts focus on how much you want to spend and don’t go over that. You can spend over $ 200 and only by 1 gift or you can spend $ 200 and have 30+ gifts.
Question
People always like to receive free gifts even if they’re donating funds. What are some good gifts ideas to give whereas people will be excited to get?
Ok, the event is for kids. The kids won’t be present. People wake up…

Truly depends on the age. Four and under, those toys that help teach abc or animals. To be honest, there are so many learning toys/books for children that any child would love.

Books, books, and more books. No, I’m not a teacher. Just a mom that believes in encouraging reading. I’m sure there are other things like, McDonald’s gift certificates, etc. But, to give a child a book I think is the best thing you could give.

Well, my kids love those paddles with the ball and string; whatever they are called they are inexpensive and fun.
Good luck.

I’m awake now! Alright, how about a packet of seeds? Relatively inexpensive and they can plant them in the spring.

I don’t agree with wasting money on gift cards and wine, etc.. when the money should be going to the charities! Makes me think twice about where all the money is going when I donate :o (

If it is a nice, grown up crowd… Bottles of wine wrapped nicely. Gift cards to wonderful little restaurants in town. Gift bags with things like special soaps, note pads, etc.

I think the people will like gift cards from any good bookstore in your town, grocery gift cards, walmart visa cards, Paintings, jewelry. All of these gifts would be nice to people donating for a good cause. God bless you and good luck!
Question
There are about 4 staff workers in each unit – an RN and several aides. The Nursing Home sent a note saying that cash gifts aren’t permitted, but cookies or fruit are ok. The aides rolled their eyes at that. I got the impression that gift cards might be ok, but don’t know how much to purchase. One aide in particular has spent a lot of time with our family member and with us.

Family member was recently admitted to a unit with 16 patients.

Answered by Izzy
If you are going to get a gift card i’d say $ 100 would be an appropriate ammount. You don’t want them to feel to guilty and like they should go and buy you a giant gift and you don’t want them to feel like you don’t really appreciate their efforts. A nice card to go with it telling them how much you appreciate their help is something you should include. Otherwise if you feel you should obey the note a nice candle or a popular book would be a great present. Flowers or a nice plant like a gardenia is a very thoughtful gift.

Good Luck!

I’ve worked in either nursing homes or assisted living facilities for 20 years, and it’s never been okay for staff to accept gifts from a resident or their family. I’d strongly suggest NOT giving a gift card — while the staff might take it gratefully (times are tough right now and you can hardly blame them), they are risking their job to do so. Accepting a gift that is intended for them only — cash, gift card, perfume, etc — is grounds for dismissal in EVERY place I’ve worked and every healthcare facility I’ve heard of. Fruit baskets, cookie trays, etc are often given, but I know one of the best “spreads” we got was from a family who brought in a bunch of really nice deli sandwich trays — enough for each shift to be able to enjoy.
Question
I’m thinkiing of asking out a girl and was wondering what some good gifts are that dont cost much Maybe something a little better than chocolates because i want at least some of my gifts to be unigue and my own that she will like instead of something she expects. So whats your ideas?
Answered by xcurlyman14x
Well you know her better than I do so get her something that she is into. For example if she likes a certain singer, maybe give her a shirt with that artist, or maybe use there lyrics in a card. You have to use what u know about =) Its up to you bro.

Think about how much money you want to spend. Also he will probably only think about the fun/interesting part of the gifts, not the amount you give him, so instead of thinking about giving him aton of presents get him like 5-10 presents that he will like, keep interest in for a while, and will have fun with !

You can organize gift vouchers. Especially if you are gifting out to weaker section of society. They can buy books or stationery or can pay school fee with the vouchers.
