For golfers who prefer the increased forgiveness of hybrids to hit long shots, the Cobra S2 Max iron-hybrid set is offered with hybrids as long-iron replacements.
The Baffler-style hybrids are ideal for mid- to high-handicap players seeking maximum forgiveness in a set. The clubface features Cobra’s exclusive 9 Point Face Technology, which helps increase ball speeds on shots hit across the face. The iron-hybrid set offers consistent distance gapping from one club to the next throughout the set, so that hybrids and irons blend together seamlessly, covering any shot distance.
Features:
  • Wide-sole, low-profile irons increase forgiveness and provide high launch. Deep-face hybrids provide a large sweet zone and high MOI for maximum forgiveness.
  • A cavity back design and 431 stainless steel face create 9 points across the clubface to form a larger sweet zone. The result is more distance and improved accuracy across the clubface.
  • From long hybrids to short irons, the Cobra S2 Max Iron/Hybrid Set is designed to provide consistent and reliable distances from one club to the next.

    Question
I was having trouble getting out the ruff yesterday with my woods. I never use my 4 and 5 irons as I don’t hit them well. If I wanted to get a hybrid which ones would I get and would they/it help me get out of the ruff?
    Answered by SHAQBLACK
DEFINATLY!! get hybrids, as they are easier to hit, and are much easier to hit out of the rough. unless you are under a 10 index, dont carry higher than a 6 iron
    Answered by outlaq_19
Right now I am problems with my woods. the last couple holes that I played, I was only using my 3 hybrid.

Since you will be buying them individually, get one and try it out.

I’ve replaced all my long irons with hybrids

and I love them and they are great from the rough

    Answered by The Jeff
    Most TOUR Pros don’t even carry a 3-iron anymore-get a hybrid!
Round-sole or V-shaped soles are better for hitting out of the rough (such as Taylormade’s Raylor or Bobby Jones’ Hybrid); flat-soled hybrids are better off the fairway (such as Adams Idea Pro series).
    Answered by green_lantern66
The short answer is, get the hybrid lofts that replace your 4 and 5 irons. Hybrids are made with longer shafts than irons- this is why they hit farther than their counterparts. Having a more forgiving head helps, but longer shafts aren’t a neccessity.

Yes, they’d help- the heads are a little heavier- couple that with the wide soles and you’ll be able to plow through the thick stuff with more ease.

    Question
does anyone have these?? are they good? do you get more distance or a better ball flight? i just dont get the difference between hybrids and hybrid irons? is ther a difference???? thanks guys!!
    Answered by barry w
the hybrids are definitely easier to hit than traditional irons. I get a nice mid to high ball flight I hit the three hybrid about 210 yds the 4 about 190…the pitching and sand wedges are a “bit strong” so you may want to also add third wedge. I play the Idea Tech OS graphite “senior” set…I also have Adams Insight 3 and 5 woods Ping G10 driver Cleveland cg-14 58* wedge I LIKE THEM and THEY WORK for me 53 years old 17 handcp
    Question
Is the hybrid irons actually easier to hit than a cavity back?
    Answered by Dave N
    I think so- more control.
    Answered by thefistofdoom
For us average players the center of gravity position in a cavity back is superior to a blade iron, just as the hybrid is superior to the cavity back. It might or might not be easier to hit depending on the club model, but it’s certainly more forgiving.

I think hybrids are better and since I see more professionals beginning to add the hybrids to their bag it seems to be true. I’m in my mid fifties, play twice a month, and play to a 6 handicap. I have replaced my 3, 4, and 5 irons with hybrids. My average shot with the hybrid is just about as good as my best possible shot with the cavity back irons. They hybrids are just more forgiving and even a bad mishit still plays well. I also replaced my 15 degree 3 wood with a 13 degree hybrid. I don’t get quite the same distance but a lot more control and the mishits are still playable.

Of the folks I play with, everyone who has tried the hybrids have stayed with them. They are not just for older folks – even the pros are starting to put them in their bag.

I will swear by my 3h and 4h giving me more control and distance than the 3 and 4 irons I tool out of the bag. The 3h goes straight, 190-200. The previous 3 iron went 190, but would fade to the right all of the time. Especially out of the rough, they are consistently better than my irons. I’m even thinking about changing my 5 iron to a 5 hybrid this year.

(Current irons are Ping, current hybrids are Ben Hogan) It’s not the quality of the iron / hybrid. It’s the design of the clubs, and the confidence they breed.

You should be able to hit a 5-iron. Practice. To replace the 4 and 3 iron, look at a 20 degree hybrid, perhaps 22 degree. I have the Callaway Heavenwood 20 degree and it rocks. Many companies make great hybrids, so don’t be afraid to carry a couple. One of the best golfers I know carries two.
