Question
Why is it that I can only find “clone” or aftermarket complete hybrid iron sets. With the much hyped game improvement capabilities that hybrid irons have to offer I was wondering why I HAVE NOT seen any of the top name brand manufacturers offer any of the complete hybrid sets?? I have seen a couple no name sets online at custom club companies like “pine meadow golf .com” and “golf clubs fore less.com”. I love these hybrids and would like to get a quality name brand set but cannot find any with the exception of the Cleveland HI-BORE. and Adams only offers a partial hybrid set . Do I need to stick to my Ping G5′s They are nice forgiving traditional irons but probably not as forgiving as a hybrid set. Should I learn to play better with the traditonal irons or will everyone soon be playing with complete hybrid sets ???? Why dosnt TaylorMade or Callaway or Nike or Cobra .. offer complete hybrid iron sets ??????
Answered by Steve from PA
Complete Hybrid sets would be omitting that the standard..forged irons dont work..Hard to do when 70% of the pro players play bladed forged irons or some type of hybrid forged cavity back like the ping52s

Take a look at the Adams Idea Tech O.S iron sets. Hybrids from 3 to 6 in regular sets and 3 to 7 irons in the senior sets. It’s an older set 2 – 3 years old and not made anymore, but available on the internet. Or look at the new Adams Idea a 70 S Max Hybrid Irons…even the pitching wedge is a hybrid iron.

Most players look at hybrids to replace their harder-to-hit 2-iron, 3-iron, and 4-irons. Most (even mediocre) players can hit their low irons (6-iron to 9-iron). Therefore, while the 4-hybrid and 3-hybrid might be huge sellers, a 5-hybrid and 6-hybrid might not sell nearly as often. It’s the same reason that you don’t see many 2-iron and 1-iron sets. Manufacturers have to weigh both demand and price-point when deciding what to supply.

There have been a few, and none ever caught on, and probably at least part of the reason the majors have been remiss to make a complete set, but realistically as irons in a set get shorter the need for a wide sole all but diminishes and can make the clubs problematic to hit crisp shots. But people aren’t looking for help hitting their short irons anyway, and another reason why nobody’s making short iron hybrids, they just want help with the mid to long irons.
Nothing wrong with mixing and matching to make up a set that works for you.

If you can’t hit an 8 or 9 iron, or wedges then there’s no use playing golf. Most teaching pros say an amateur should not hit anything over a 5 iron anyway. They make hybrids to replace 5 and 6 irons, but IMO, a golfer should be able to hit a 5 iron. That is why most hybrid sets are 5-pw. You should definitely learn to play with a 5 or 6 iron. There will never be a complete hybrid set. They make irons for higher handicappers that are easier to hit than a forged cavity or blade iron.
Question
I am 16 and relatively new to golf. I just bought a Cleveland Launcher 460 and usually drive around 220 but max around 270. My Irons are Tour Craft? Should I look into hybrids? if so what brand at what *? Are mallet putters worth anything to ones game besides a psychological effect? thank you all!
Answered by Riley
callaway!
Answered by thedoctor
Callaway X-20 irons are great. Also, a hybrid for a 3 or 4 iron makes those clubs easier to hit. They are worth it.
Mallet putters work well because they keep the putter steady. Odyssey are the most used.

Callaway X-22 Irons set this good, Callaway new
Answered by T L
Try looking at CER 851UM. Also the Maltby CT250M is a nice set.
Answered by googie
There are no easy clubs to hit. The perimeter weighted irons are easier to hit than the pure blade irons. The adjustable weighted drivers are easier to hit than the standard drivers. But the hitter must also be a good ball striker.
Question
For a high school golfer
Taylormade r7 irons 4-pw,aw
Taylor made 09 burner driver
Some random hybrid
Cleveland cg14
nike sq dymo str8 fit 3 wood
Or should i get the new nike slingshots
Answered by JayK
I would get the new nike slingshots just for the simple reason of having the same clubs and you will be able to get a good feel for the grip and weight of same type of clubs.
Answered by dmartin2214
Sounds like an excellent combination to me….slingshots not necessary.
Answered by alex
Keep your r7′s the slingshots aren’t nearly as good as the r7′s… it doesn’t matter if you have all Nike’s or taylormades its whatever works for you.
Answered by Dave L
I’d stay with the R7′s too, just add a Burner fairway wood instead of the Nike, and MAYBE a hybrid, and you’ll be set!
