Are new fairway woods any better than old Callaway Warbirds?

I’m just wondering if the newer woods make much difference. If so what? I’ve been using the old 3 & 5 wood warbirds and have always liked them, but wondering if the newer versions would get me more distance? I’m looking at a Titleist 909 F3 15*.

Thanks for your answer! I wasn’t really asking on what club to buy (personal preferance) sorry if it sounded that way. I just really wanted to know if a new fairway would would be any better/more “crisp” feeling than the old warbirds. Mine are in fine condition and I put Sabre shafts in them. I hit them ok just wondering if the Titleist would be a lot better distance wise, etc. Thanks again.

If you are hitting the Callaway woods well, why in Heaven’s name would you want to change them? How often, in a round , on a par 72 course would you be using a fairway wood ? And how often would that club be the layup club? It would be more layup than going for the green, correct?

If you are carrying one of the newest models, they are known for easy to hit.
Just because the taylormade driver is good for you, doesn’t mean that you are going to be hitting good fairway woods.
I carry 425 TP and Callaway Big Bertha 3, 5 woods.
They are all good.
I think it all depends on your decision.

I have titleist 3 and 5 wood and really like them, but I was out in Arizona and used borrowed clubs that had a Taylor R7 3 wood and I crushed that thing. If your Calloway woods are older and you aren’t hitting them that well and you like the Taylor driver at least give the 3 wood a try. Increased confidence alone might improve the shots you hit with it.

I would say a brand means nothing. Have your clubs tested against the new option. The golf store will let you bring your clubs in for comparison every time. Then see which you hit better. In fact try all the fairway woods they have available in your shaft flex. You may find a mizuno or nike you like even better. Get on the launch monitor and see what it tells you. See which you hit farther. See which you can work the ball better with. See which one you control the best. And pick the one that ranks the highest in all three categories. It may be your old callaway, or maybe a new club for your set. Good luck

One thing I did and regret was giving my warbird away to a junoir golfer. I replaced it with Hybrid and the company has since gone out of business. I see that young man from time to time and he still has Agnes( as I called her) in his bag. I resist the urge to grab and RUN…the new titanium F3 I have the feel is not the same. It is lighter, shallower face and not as forgiving.
