The driver that changes the face of titanium!

Eight years in the making, Callaway engineers have sculpted a more robust face that dramatically increases impact efficiency for greater distance on shots hit across the entire face.

Key Features:
Hyperbolic Face TechnologyTM improves impact efficiency and produces the largest effective hitting area of any Callaway Golf all-titanium driver for higher ball speeds.

Modified X-SoleTM design aids alignment at address so drives start on the intended target line.
Optimized head shape generates a high MOI for increased forgiveness and stability on miss-hits.
S2H2® increases discretionary weight by removing it from the hosel so it can be repositioned in the perimeter of the clubhead.

Well I’ve tried all of them and the one which is not listed, that I chose was the Cleveland Hybore XLS. For me…it gave me the best distance and control over all of the above. You’ll just have to try them all and decide for yourself.

CGB max.

Its almost fool proof. hit it solid anywhere on the club face and its guaranteed to fly for a loOOOong time.

Answered by gabound75
By no means am I an expert on the matter. I’ve been playing golf for 8 years now. In that time I’ve gone from shooting in the 120′s and 130′s as a beginner, to now being a “solid” 14 handicap. If I had the time to play more I could probably get better and get my handicap into the single digits.

But, in this amount of time, and getting much better (in my own right), I’ve come to form this opinion: Clubs are clubs.

While I hate to sound like an idiot or ignore the fact that technology has played and may continue to play a large part in the “advancement” of the game for players of all skill levels, I would venture to argue that performance has little to do with the club, ball, or any other equipment, but it depends moreso on the player holding and using it.

If we could all swing like that mechanical arm the manufacturers use to test their clubs against others, either privately or in them freakin’ infomercials, the technology would truly make a difference. But we’re human.

Furthermore, I would offer, for the sake of argument or discussion, that in getting better myself and from personal experience…I’ve found that I can hit a $ 29.00 driver I bought from Wal-Mart the same 280 yards that I can hit my PING G-5 driver I paid $ 200.00 for.

Experts often speak of all the possible tweaks to get maximum distance. Tweak the club head, make sure you’re using the right shaft, use the right grip, use the right BALL. Sheesh, every year new commercials come out touting “You can get 10 or 13 more yards distance with this new driver!” I’ve been hearing that since 2000, when I started playing.

By that theory, we should be hitting 400 yard drives now. Yes, I know some of the long drive champions do that, but every weekend chump is not hitting 400 yard drives.

My conclusion: Clubs are clubs. Again, sorry to sound like an idiot. Many can give scientific reasons why one club “should” be better over the other. Just like your ball might go further because it has 7 more dimples on it than mine does. Will it really matter if all you’re going to do is get up there and shank the second shot into the trees?

Clubs are clubs and balls are balls. Get something “decent” if you like. But be happy with you have and just try to be consistent with hitting the ball straight and having fun on the golf course. Don’t be surprised if the one set that really suits your game is a $ 159 full set from Costco.

Hey, it could happen.

The top of your list is the top of my list.

this thing is such a friggin’ beast. I never expected it to be this amazing. It is literally like a trick club it goes far even when you hit it backwards. Seriously if you took one of these to a party where there was a pinata and spun blindfolded and barely made contact you would send that stuffed paper donkey into the next county. Play it now before they outlaw it from regulation play. Or just outlaw it altogether.
Question
I am currently using a:
9.5 Cleveland Launcher 400 Driver Stiff Shaft
Ping Ti 3 fairway woods (3,5) Stiff Shaft

I have very good distance on all of them, I hit the driver about 290-310, the 3 wood about 265-275 and the 5 wood in the 220s. The problem is I hook sometimes and I’m not too consistent on the course with different lies. I wouldn’t mind subtracting a little bit of distance for more control, and I’d like to switch to the following clubs.

Callaway Hyper X Tour 9.5 Driver stiff shaft
Callaway X 2008 3 Wood stiff
Callaway X 2008 5 Wood stiff
Callaway X Hybrid 3H Stiff

I prefer Callaway clubs (I still have the x-14 irons which are phenomenal, but I haven’t hit their woods before). I’m a mid handicapper whose only broke 80 once, looking to get that 83-85 into the high 70s. If you know better clubs for me I’d appreciate it!

Answered by kingofhitz0
it’s incredibly difficult to answer that question without seeing your swing, or any specs about it (clubhead speed, golf ball speed, etc.). my recommendation is to check golf magazines or check on golf-dedicated websites with experts for recommendations rather than relying on peers here.
or go to golf galaxy or something of the sort where they analyze your swing and match you up with clubs. that’s the best idea.
Answered by golfserv2001
Club preference is yours. 300 and you ain’t got a clue where it goes. Control and 275 in the middle beats any drive. No maker of clubs can make a score.
Question
I’m looking for a new driver. I’m fourteen 5’5 and a decent golfer. The only thing my set is missing is a quality driver. My budget is about $ 225 canadian. So far I have found:

Taylor made: ’07 Burner, Tour burner, r7 draw.

Callaway: Hyper X, Hyper X tour,FT-5 neutral or Big Bertha

Cleveland: Hibore XLs, Draw, tour and other variants

Ping: Rapture Driver

Which do you think i should get? I’m open to other suggestions and I usually shop at Golf town, http://www.golftown.com/?lang=en

Answered by cdc
It really depends on what trajectory you want and your typical ball striking and ball flight patterns.

Taylormade is the number one driver on tour for a reason. I love my Superquad, but mine is modified with a specialty shaft and other things.

Callaway is probably the easiest to hit well, but workability generally sucks on those.

Cleveland’s Hibore HL is a monster. The club head is so big I dunno if I could keep it on plane the whole time, plus it is really meant for players who want to hit the ball way up into the air.

Ping drivers are always nice, if I did not have a taylormade, I would have a ping. The rapture is a good driver as well. I would say it is probably the best on your list above.

keep in mind, the shaft you choose will matter more than the clubhead itself. A good shaft can go a long way, and the standard shafts that they put in these drivers are good enough for some, but not for the better players.

My recommendation- Ping Rapture new or Taylormade R7 series TP used.

Callaway FT-5 neutral, its my personal favourite.
Question
4hybrid, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 iron & pw & sw
Did I get a good deal?

Also, all my friends that r good at golf told me not to buy a driver, just get a 3 wood instead, should I follow there advice?
If so, I’m going to get the Callaway Hyper X 3 wood. 15 degree right?

Answered by Oll
It is not recommended for beginners to use the driver.
But I like to practice with it to get better and use it when I am good with it.
But I often still hit the tee shot with the driver.
I started playing golf 3 months back, have played 1 time for 9 holes. Then it went gold and snow started to rain.
Answered by Hit Down
First… EXCELLENT deal, and second, you have an excellent friend. Good call on the 15 deg.
Answered by legalbgl
sounds like a good deal.

I would get a driver and not be afraid of it. A 3wood is “easier” to hit, but the same mistakes you make with the Driver, you will make on the 3w. Plus, the newer drivers are so forgiving that the old adage of starting with a 3W is no longer as applicable. Personally, I would get a driver, something like the Cleveland HyborXL or the TM Burner (not the tour burner or the new burner that just came out.) Then get a 3 Hybrid, its easier to hit than the 3w and IMHO, a better more useful club for beginners than a 3w (its easier to hit off the fairway than the 3w and just as beneficial off the tee.)

Answered by peekaboodles
I could have got them for 60
Question
I am a 4 handicap and getting better (Im 16) I currently have a R7 425 stiff flex with the standard shaft with the weights standard, my dad has a Callaway FT-i and X460 both with standard shafts and stiff flexes I definitely hit these clubs 15 yards further (like 285 easy)so I am going to get a new driver. Do you think I sould get an FT-5 with a better shaft, a Hyper X standard stiff shaft, Taylormade Tour Burner stiff flex, or another brand. Im not the kind of person who hates a specific brand or only likes one other whatever works, works.
Answered by fanta pants
Get yourself to a decent driving range and try out a few different clubs and get a pro to have a look at your swing and recommend the right shaft for you.
Answered by MyGolfShack.NET
Go to the shop and test them out.
Answered by Steve from PA
A for handicapper doesnt have to ask what driver he should use..and it wouldnt be off the rack….Remember ur basically shooting 76
Answered by mr natural
I think it’s odd that a 4 handicap would ask what driver he needs. If your that good you should know your swing tendencies pretty well.

I suppose just go to the range and hit a few different drivers until you find the one that suits your swing best.

Answered by Josh P
I have a taylormade burner and i peronly think they are one of the best drivers out at the moment. I have the standerd Fujikura stock shaft in it. Perhaps woth a try.

i would wait till march and try the r9 that is coming out but whats starting to become really important is the type of shaft. i would first recommend going to a pro shop with a launch monitor and see which driver you hit the most accurate and the furthest, then i would try a lot of different shafts. this will help your driving so much more
