Complete Legal Product Name(s): Callaway RAZR X Irons Product One-Liner: Tighter Shots. Shorter Putts. Lower Scores. Uncompromised Performance. “Most irons today are designed to maximize one specific performance benefit — Distance, Forgiveness or Feel — while sacrificing all other critical areas needed to hit more greens. To consistently hit it close and shoot lower scores, golfers need to be able to make shots from all areas of the golf course. That’s why RAZR Technology is such a breakthrough. This technology will lead the industry into the next generation of iron design by delivering the distance and forgiveness of a wide sole iron while retaining the playability and turf interaction advantages of a thin sole iron.”

Question
I have irons 4-9 and a P. Can someone describe or post a link to the shots I would have for them
Answered by Matt
They all swing exactly the same, although the lower the number the lower the loft and the further the distance. You can hit your 4 & 9 iron exactly the same the 4 will have a much lower trajectory and hence go further. The best thing to do is take your bag down to the driving range, buy 100 balls for $ 10 and hit all the clubs. If you’re new, try to work on keeping your head down, eyes on the ball and developing a good, consistent rhythm that works for you. Best of luck.
Answered by Del W
Your swing should generally be the same for each iron. However, because the clubs get longer (and harder to hit well) the lower the number of the club (think of the “P” as a 10 iron), small adjustments have to be made for each iron. Some teachers say you should hit them all with the ball in the center of your stance, others say the ball should move depending on the club (“P” from just behind the center, and the 4 from a bit inside your front foot).
You will save yourself a lot of headache and money and frustration if you get lessons from a pro when you begin. That way, you won’t learn bad habits that you will later have to break if you want to get better. For an example of most of those bad habits, check out Charles Barkley’s swing on Youtube. That should be all the incentive you need to get lessons. Enjoy, it is a great game.

It is true they all swing the same and from the centre of ur stance. the lower the number on the club the wider the stance but the ball is still positioned in the centre of the stance. Good luck with it.

Any individual starting to play golf should invest in a series of basic lessons from a qualified teaching pro.You will learn the basic swing and gradually learn to apply a swing to each club whether it be a wood or iron. Once you learn the first swing accompany that with a great deal of practice until you become comfortable with the swing and proficient with the shot.

Hey Zach , depending on what you are trying to accomplish in this game , lessons can be very valuable . If you just want to bang balls and experiment , don’t worry about lessons for now . I would recommend reading as much material as you can , there is no substitute for knowledge about the swing and the game .
In closing , I’ll give you a quote that was extremely enlightening to me when I first read it –
“The only master model of the golf swing comes from the physical design of the golf club”
Question
Ive always wondered if you could take eight 6 irons, and have them bent into the correct corresponding loft/lie angles of a typical 3-pw set by bending and adjusting without compromising the strength of the steel. I ask because looking at individual iron prices the 6 iron is by far the cheapest, most likely do to being the demo iron of choice. So wondering if anybody has attempted to create a complete set of golf irons all made from 6 irons. If so what was the outcome?

In this case the club lie and length are similar to an 8 iron.
Answered by solara 437
The answer is no. It would take too much work, and irons can only be bent so much, for instance the lie angle on a forged iron is limited to about 4 degrees
Answered by torchy005
Theoretically it would be possible, but not very practical. I guess it would be possible to bend the heads to specific lofts and lies, but then you would need a loft/lie machine, which are not cheap. After doing that, you would have to grind the soles of each club that you bent because when you change the loft, you also change the bounce. After you grind the soles to the correct amount of bounce (this isn’t easy), I guess you would have all your clubheads ready. But the set wouldn’t work too well because long iron heads and short iron heads are designed differently depending on the desired launch for each club. All the clubs in your bent set would be designed to launch like a 6-iron, but have different lofts, and the ballflights off of different irons would be really weird. It would be much easier to just buy the correct clubheads.

There is a reason that the Length, Lie, Loft and Length.

A 6 iron will fly father than a 7 iron for 2 reasons. 1) Length – Irons are built in length increments of a 1/2 inch. (progressively shorter from the 3 iron on down) The extra length all be it minimal will create additional swing speed resulting in more distance. 2) Loft – Is the other half of the equation. Loft progressions start at about 21* on most standard 3 irons and progressively increase by an average 4 degrees and may vary by set/mfg. The stronger loft and extra length of a 6 iron V.S. a 7 iron should be enough for an average golfer to hit the 6 iron 10-18 yards farther.

To get back to your question, the answer is NO. First of all a standard cast stainless iron head can only be bent about 4 degree one way or the other. Unfortunately you can only bend stainless irons 2 maybe 3 times as they will likely crack and break at the hosel. If you were to bend the lofts then you would also have to bend the lie angle of each iron. Bending both the lie and loft more than 4 degree will certainly snap the head in two. Forged irons are more mailable and may be easier to bend.

The progression of the lie angle is approximately 1* starting at about 59* in the 3 iron and increasing by 1* through the wedges.

There is a company that sells clubs that are all the same length but it doesn’t work. I would find it hard to believe anyone could hit a 3 iron that was 37″ any farther than a 5 iron. For a tall golfer it would be very bad idea to try. The length of the club is far too important to mess with.

Answered by PLAYER
You can bend certain softer forged clubs that much but it changes the swing weight. Cast iron won’t bend that much at most 4 degrees and that is with some heat applied. FYI the 3 iron would hit nothing but low bullets. Buy a regular set.
Question
I broke the shaft on my 7-iron (mizuno MX-23) and I want to replace it with the same kind. However, so far I’m unbable to find a store that sell shaft for iron.

callawaygolfpreowned.com may also have that club. They have a good number of used Callaway clubs.

ClubFinders in Plano, TX has it.

Look around in any of the on line stores like Golfsmith, they occassionally will have an extra club. Or wait patiently for someone to sell an individual club on ebay. I broke a 7 iron a couple years and were able to find one on ebay. Your local craiglist may have something. A finally suggestioni is call around your local golf shops. People leave behind clubs all the time and they don’t claim them, and the golf shop will try to sell them at a nomimal price. You just have to be patient if you don’t want to replace the whole set.
