Question

The FT iz i-mix is adjustable while the FT iz is not.
Answered by green_lantern66
I-MIX is a hosel system that lets you swap out shafts easily.

I don’t know about the iz, but I didn’t see a significant difference in the FT-9 as far as head weight (as in, the non I-MIX being lighter) is concerned.

Question
IS there a substantial difference between the Callaway x460 driver and the Callaway hyper-X driver? Or is it just marketing?
Answered by houtskc
mainley marketing. but the face material is different which gives it a little different feel but no signifiant distance change kinda like the r7 and r7 superquad same club different color.
Answered by lorkin
why not go to the manufactrurer’s website and check out the different specs? that way you will have it stroaght from the horses mouth. The link below will get you to the website for Callaway
Answered by Speedy G
not much difference
Answered by rbkgolfshop
Probably just the shaft. Check out the shaft difference.
Question
I am looking at the Callaway Hyper X, and the Ping Rhapsody, both for a woman. I am unfortunately not able to swing either before buying. I have used a men’s Ping G10 before and loved the feel of it, so it made me think go for Ping, then I read about the Hyper X and thought that looked good too? Ugh it is driving me nuts, I just need to make a decision.

But when you are looking at $ 300 you want it to be right. Also I currently use 12* and was thinking I may get more distance with 11* I know it’s not much of a difference, but the Callaway comes in 11 and the Ping comes in 12 14 16, I don’t think I want to go up any higher than 12, I get plenty of loft? Any of your help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Answered by been there done that
Try the TaylorMade R7. It’s an excellent driver. Get it with a {60?} flex shaft which offers better control with better distance. If you hit a high ball, get a 10.5 degree loft. If you hit a low ball, get a 12 degree loft. Borrow one at the pro shop and hit a few balls.
Answered by Gotheprobe
As it’s a driver I’d go with the least amount of loft you can handle; as you want the distance. Even 11 degrees isn’t that low when you consider 8.5-10.5 is fairly typical. I recently bought a driver without trying it & it was rubbish for my game. I put it down to bad shaft choice. So I’d go with Price (they’re both good brands), the look you like as this will build confidence and then importantly concentrate on ordering the right shaft. If you’ve got irons or drivers that you hit well use those shafts as a benchmark.
Hope you choose well.
Cheers.
Answered by cmacjr23
If your comfortable with the loft at 12 deg. an 11 would probably produce slightly more distance, but you might want to stick with what you’re happy with.
Answered by jimbo
Callaway Hyper X. alot of my friends have that club and they are very happy with it. onto the degrees, 1 will not make much of a difference. <5 yards. It depends which you are most comfortable with. In general, the more loft there is, it increases the backspin, causing less sidespin(and therefore less hooking/slicing)
Answered by wbaker777
In all honesty, I would not buy any club I had not the opportunity to hit….its like buying a pig in a poke…..too many dollars to spend on the hope that it will suit you. Just my opinion mind you

Callaway, All the way !!
Answered by MarkSperry
Taylormade hand down.

No other company offers you the versatility you can get with the moveable weight technology. This technology allows you to shape you shot and easily will cut scores off you round. You can hit six shot trajectories with one club without changing anything in you swing with the new superquad.

Answered by GOLFRULES
I would go with Callaway. But, it is always a little more than Taylormade. Callaway is the premium club.

According to Golf Digest, they did a test on the best clubs.

For drivers, they rated Callaway’s three out of 4 drivers with a gold sticker with the Fusion FT-5 the editors choice while the two TaylorMades, they rated only 1 gold sticker.

For irons, they rated the Callaway X-20 as the premium irons with the editors choice.

For fairway woods, it was again the Callaway Big Bertha as the editors choice.

It all depends on your willingness to pay.

Answered by notredame1131
it is opinionated…personally i like callaway because of the service as well as their playability…i have the x18 irons and they are amazing but i use a ping g2 driver…so in my case ping for drivers and callaway for irons, titeliest for wedges and taylor made for putters
Answered by taylormadegolf1980
I prefer Taylormade. I bought a Taylormade r5 Dual Type N driver last year and I love it even though it’s not the latest equipment.

I agree with wbaker. You don’t buy a car without test driving it first and seeing what’s under the hood. Tell the store that you won’t buy either until they let you get a good feel for what the clubs can offer you. You can easily take your business elsewhere.

  2. lilly_pad1311 says:

I agree with the first guy, try the Taylormade R7! I have one and i’ve been driving 290m-300m. It’s great.

Though out of your two choices, I would definitely go with the Ping. Their drivers are much better than Callaways, the only drivers that are better than Ping’s are Taylormade’s.

  3. pinoy-ako says:

Go to Golf Smith or Golf Galaxy used there launch monitor see which one is best for you. I was about to replace my Taylor Made Burner Driver with either the Callaway BB 460 or Ping G10 but I’m hitting more yardage with my Burner. Try to consider the Taylor Made Burner also. Good Luck!

  4. unoriginalnamecreator says:

the lower loft does not neccesarily translate to more distance. First off, the loft listed on the clubhead is rarely accurate. The loft you need is dependant more on what the launch angle of the ball is based on your individual swing. You may get more distance from a higher loft.

  5. Evil Cartman says:

I have played and preferred Callaway drivers ever since the original Big Bertha. However my brother and father play with Taylormade drivers and I will admit they are probably better than Callaway. I am a much better player, yet sometimes they just destroy me off the tee.

  6. wbaker777 says:

I just bought a new driver this year…..I looked at every driver in the stores…….It was close between Calloway and Taylormade……I chose The R7. I Love it!

    Both are great!
