    I reccomend .

How can i gain more golf roll on my drives and fairway woods without sacrificing trajectory of my shots?
    Question
I hit good drives and fairway woods occasionally, however they just seem to just land softly on the fairway. Not like on the PGA tour where they have all that roll!!! help
    Answered by Thomas
well one way to get more roll is to hit it slightly softer so the ball does not spin so much and balloon up into the air
    Answered by Clint H
Most pro golfers get a nice roll because they hit a draw. The draw, on a right hand golfer, has a nice right to left path, which adds forward spin to the ball and creates roll. If you are hitting a straight ball, a fade or slice, generally the ball is going to come off the face of the club with a back or side spin, which does not promote a roll towards the target.

Hitting a draw is one of the hardest things to learn, but one of the most rewarding outcomes when you can finally start producing it regularly.

    Answered by JD
As mentioned, hitting a draw will help, but that’s not really the answer. Plenty of pros do not play a draw, and they all hit their drivers very high.

The reason they get so much roll is that PGA Tour courses are set up to play very firm and fast, much faster than most of us ever see. In fact, even the courses on which they play won’t be set up as firm and fast the other 51 weeks of the year. The course superintendents usually have the turf stressed to the limit for tour events, and the fairways are as firm as the greens we play, and nearly as fast.

Lastly, courses look much flatter on television than they really are in person. What may look like a small slope on television is probably much steeper in reality, so that big roll might actually be going down a hill.

This is a tough question to answer without knowing where and under what conditions you play golf. For example, if you are in Washington state where it rains a LOT, the ball is not going to bounce or roll very much – anywhere. If you are in the Arizona desert (where I am), the ball is going to bounce and roll much farther than in Washington. In fact, if we tee off here at 7:00 a.m. we will not get as much bounce and roll as we will get on the backside fairways and greens at 10:00 or 10:30 a.m., because the course is drying out and becoming firmer as we play.

The best thing to do is just to concentrate on hitting the ball straight. Distance and roll will come naturally…but you want to get them on the fairway, not in the woods or the lake.

The other answers talking about a “draw” and the courses set up for the pro’s are correct. We can emulate them, but we should never expect ourselves to play as well they do. Not only is the golf course set up for maximum performance when they play it (but not during the rest of the year), but the equipment they use is made just for them. We can not even buy the clubs, balls, etc. that the manufacturers “fine tune” for the player representing them on the golf courses around the world and on TV.

I think JD makes good points. I live in Augusta GA. and I am lucky enough to go to the Masters tournament most every year. The terrain there is unbelievable. Heck, #10 is straight down hill. But there are other ways to cheat physics. Make sure you don’t “hit down” on the ball with your driver. Tee it high, let it fly has some validity to it. A low tee ball will have more back-spin. This will help you hit it straight but will cost you distance and roll. Also, different drivers perform quite differently in this department. I’ve owned them all. I have the Callaway FT-9 now. My 10.5 tour head sends the ball out pretty flat. It’s good. Some other winners are the Cobra X Speed Deep Face. The shallow face spins too much. The Srixon Z-RW is very under-rated. Great driver. Ping G 10 is good. Most Callaway Fusion heads are great. Taylor Made drivers are nice but spin too much for my taste. The new prices on the I-Mix driver heads are a great deal. You can experiment with shaft specs. It’s great. You can fit yourself fairly effectively. Good luck.
    Question
Need to know if anyone has had experience with these golf clubs on a regular bases. I just bought some and am very curious.

A good club for one person may not be for another. Picking out golf clubs, you have to consider how much you play, your budget, and what you like. The best thing to do is try out as many as you can. Go to Demo days and have someone fit you for clubs. Now since you already have them, who cares what anyone else thinks. The only thing that matters is how you hit them and if your happy. Now if your having trouble with them go to www.playgolfamerica.com and sign up for a free golf lesson with a local PGA pro.

With your irons, try standing closer to the ball. Typically, the newer woods are lighter than your irons so, your club head will tend to rise a bit during your swing causing you to hit the woods in the middle but, since the irons are “heavier” they will stay down. This may be causing you to mis-hit your irons.
During a normal round, I have 3 or 4 different swings/stances. Driver, fairway wood, irons, chips.

    1. no idea????? says:

try low spin golf ball. expensive. another way toe wood slightly. this does close the face . not enough for a draw, just lower ball flight. if you have the practise time. might be worth trying to learn to hit a draw. but your scores will go up. requires a lot of frustrating practise. older cobra woods were made with higher centre of gravity. tremendous roll. try 13 degree 3 wood. 17 degree 5 wood. the lowest most penetrating fairway wood is made by sonartec. not the most forgiving. but a very underrated club.
