Question
Can’t find the answer online, thanks.
I need a 2-3 degree up bend in my irons and was wondering whether I could bend these irons or not.
Answered by John G
cast
Answered by c g +1
They are cast, and you can bend Taylor Made irons. But be sure that you know the exact angle you are moving to, because Taylor Made’s lie angle may be more or less upright than “standard”, since every manufacturer has their own standard. I wouldn’t go more than 2 degrees on them in any case.
Answered by Golfdeegook
The TM Burners are cast. TM has strayed away from forgings with their last few iron lines – only the TP MB in their ’09 offerings.

You can have the Burner irons bent, but I wouldn’t go more than about 2 degrees on any iron, stainless or carbon. Some club fitters or manufacturers won’t say this, but once you get more than 1.5 or 2 degrees of bend it can start to effect the strength of the metal. You may not notice it initially, but you will over time.

If you need a 3-up lie, most manufacturers will produce a 1 or 2 degree upright clubhead, and you just have it bent 1 additional degree. At least one major manufacturer offers this for no additional charge.

Good luck!

CG+1 is right; virtually all of the game improvement irons are cast. Casting is the only way to achieve the necessary perimeter weighting required for providing the forgiveness essential to game improvement clubs. Forged irons are mostly for better players; single digit handicappers who need to be able to hit a variety of shot shapes and work the ball. People who have problems with slices and hooks ought not try to hit forged clubs.

These clubs can be bent a little, but as CG+1 stated, have them put you on a loft/lie monitor and check out the clubs before you bend them. Often in mass produced equipment, each club in a set of irons will have a variation of one or two degrees in loft and lie from ‘standard’. I once had a set where I hit the 6 and 7 iron roughly the same distance; when I took them to the shop, I discovered they were almost the identical loft. They were supposed to be 4* different, but one was 1.5* too much and the other 1* too little, so they were only 1.5* apart. This sort of thing is very common in off-the-shelf clubs.

The other posters are also correct about limiting the amount of bending to one or two degrees and once they are bent, do not try to have them bent back to original shape. That is why it is important to ensure you check the clubs’ lie before bending them.

Question
Have you tried all of the above irons from three custom golf manufactures? Which one do you like the best?
Answered by pejon60
I haven’t tried Snake Eyes or Bang Golf

However I actually play KZG

If the Other 2 brands are better then they are absolutely brilliant
Because the KZG Tour Evolution Irons I hit are the best Irons I have ever owned. I was thinking about getting the ZO’s instead but the Evolutions are just a bit more forgiving without really losing the pure workability of the blade.

The only irons I have ever hit that are better than them are made by the Japanese Company HOMNA I have hit three different models of Homna clubs and they are STUNNING.

Answered by Club G
i’ve only tried KZG, an it is pretty good!
Answered by Golf Digger
Bang Golf forged irons

More consistency and confidence!

Answered by LORD RUMBOY
all pretty much the same quality.
KZG and SE are over priced
Bang does not back their product like most others (warranty)

Bottom line is play what you can hit the best and afford.

Question
Answered by markgotell
when two or more metals are put together to make one metal
Answered by rgetso
It means they are pounded into shape. Forging is usually done by pressing a red-hot rod of carbon steel (or stainless steel) into the shape of a clubhead with a large, high-pressure metal press. The forging process requires several steps to complete. An advantage of a forged clubhead is it’s bendability. That is, the clubhead can be easily bent or adjusted to fit a particular golfer. Moreover, some golfers claim that a forged clubhead feels softer at impact (while hitting golf balls) than cast clubheads. This, however, is open to debate.
Answered by Doug
The above answer explain the metal process. When someone says forged irons to a golfer it means players club in most cases. The forged irons I have more feel. You can tell how well you hit the shot by the feel, unlike cast clubs. The forged irons tend to have a smaller sweet spot that rewards you with a better shot. The club makes you pay when you mishit the ball. Cast clubs are more forgiving with off center shots. A good player can work the ball better wth a forged club than a cast club. Forged club can have the loft and lie changed cast clubs cannot.
Question
What year were they made and what is the difference between the two?
Answered by daniel s
the difference with the forged is that they are made out of a softer metal which means they have more feel when you hit them but less forgiveness the cast clubs are much more forgiving slighter more offset and they help a mid to high handicap golfer as opposed to low hanicappers for the forged ones i have played forged clubs all my life i love them i am a 2 handicap golfer and i have been playing for 15 years good luck
Answered by Golfer92
The Nike Cci forged are for people that have skills on how to hit the ball in the middle everytime or close to it.
The Nike Cci are for people that are in the upper handicap zone.

If you feel like you can swing the ball good, try the Cci forged,
but if you want to just try the Cci’s, it won’t hurt you because the club is very forgiving.

Answered by Richie
if you want forged irons get mizunos.. they are the best forged irons money can buy
