A 7 hybrid would replace your 7-iron.

For example, I have #3 & #4 hybrids from Adams that replace the 3 & 4-irons.

They usually replace the same number iron so the 7 would replace a 7 iron, 5 the five iron etc. If you can’t hit a seven iron after playing for 10 years maybe you should consider tennis or fishing.

Its just a 7-wood. More loft than a 5. I find its better than a five out of the rough of course.

get a 5 wood

i would suggest a hybrid 2 if u prefer irons or a 5 wood if u prefer to hit with lots of wood ,

a 7 wood IMO = a hybrid 3

please don’t rule out a hybrid 2 because a little can go a long way

Since your a beginner it will be difficult to tell which club is best for you for different yardage..You have to develop a swing, and start hitting the ball straight..Now once you ve done that you will be able to guage what club you need for say 100yards..but here is a average for most women. Sand-wedge 0- 40 yards Pitching wedge 0-50 yards 9i 50-60yards and basically add 10yards as u get lower in the club number. The sand and pitching wedges can both be used around the green or for short distances, Hold them next to each other notice how the angle or degree of the club is different, that’s for height control..If properly hit the sand wedge shot will fly higher and land softer. hope this helps. And if you can now is the best time to take lessons from a pro before you develop some bad habits..

It depends on many factors, such as the golfer his/ her-self, the clubs, the swing speed, and so on. Just go to the driving range and see how far you hit each club for yourself. Actually, you’ll probably need to see a instructor before you start trying to score, and focus on your fundamentals.

Every person is different so your going to have to practice to find the right yardage. This requires going to the driving range A LOT. My yardage is as follows:
S Wedge – 0-90
P Wedge – 0-120
9 Iron – 120-125
8 Iron – 125-140
7 Iron – 140-155
6 Iron – 155-165
5 Iron – 165-180
4 Hybrid/Iron – 185-195
3 Hybrid/Iron – 195-215 ish
(I don’t use woods)
Driver – 220+

*And keep in mind that all these depend on wind and elevation. It all depends on what clubs your hitting and how well you hit them and how straight you hit them.

It takes a while to figure out the actual distance of your clubs when you swing it right. Depending on the clubs I would say:

PW: 100
9: 115
8: 135
7: 150
6: 160
5: 175
4: 190
3: 200

You can only answer that on the practice range.

Typically for amateur women:

SW: 65 and less
PW: 80
9 IR: 95
8 IR: 105
7 IR: 115
6 IR: 125
5 IR: 135
4 IR: 145
HYBRID (or fairway wood): 145+

She won’t need the driver. Here is a list for a beginner,PW, 9 iron,7 iron, 5 iron. 5 wood maybe, and a putter. Pay for her lessons, see how she does then think about the rest of the clubs.

Eliminate the driver and if the wife is a strong girl, substitute a 3 wood instead. The longer her drives the shorter her iron and hybrid shots and the better the scoring.
